does anyone elses fuel door sit too far back in the filler neck compartment when you close it cause mine does and it gives it a nasty shadow on the rear quarter panel doesnt look right anyone know how to give that a quick fix?

i would say unscrew the door from the hinge if possible, then fab up some small spacers, place them between the hinge and door, fasten down, wham your door is fixed! just be careful cuz if the spacers are TOO big, you run the risk of hitting the quarter panel when u open the door.

I just went in a and bent the hinges a little bit in the opposite direction, and now it sits perfect.
You can also move the contact point further outward to it attaches higher.

I do the same thing..usually takes me a few second to get it "where I like it"

haha

Ditto to all of the above, I just push it back part way. The latch is cheap and flimsy on Cavaliers compared to other cars.

That said...I always get funny looks when i get out to pump my own gas, could be because I'm in lazy Jersey. After some moron scratched the rear quarter panel because he couldn't find the filler tube, I stopped letting other people do it for me.

wtf...people still don't pump their own gas?? i wouldn't let anyone @!#$ with my car with a hose full of gas...not that my car is anything special, but i don't see the point of not just doing it yourself....they used to do that here (U.P.) when i was like 5..i thought it was done with haha...pump your own gas...x2!

anyways, my car does the same damn thing with the fuel door....soon as i get the remote trunk popper i think i'm shaving it. the gf keeps pounding on it cuz she can't get her finger in there to open the thing,("WHAT THE @!#$ ARE YOU HITTING THE CAR FOR?!") and there's so much ice it's usually iced shut.

its against the law in Oregon to pump your own gas

What I did: I went to Home Depot and got some of those little stick on feet things (1/4" diameter plastic ones) and stuck 2 of them to the fuel door where it meets with the stop on the inside. Problem solved.

The gas door on my 03 came stock with a stopper to prevent this from happening. I'll get pics later of it.
