Well i got a RK Sport Streetfire front from a buddy of mine that he destroyed by hitting a dear over the winter months. Its cracked and stuff but its repairable. But with what? I've plastic welded bumpers before but nothing this flexible and i couldn't find any kind of urethane weldin rods. I've seen a epoxy type stuff before but i cant find it anywhere now and searching has come up empty for me. What do shops use when they repair bumpers that are this flexible?
it will all depend on the extent of the damage and the size of the cracks.
are they clean cracks to an edge? how visible are the cracks if the bumper were on the car?
theres a few things you could use like Fusor/3M Panel bond, but it wont be flexible like urethane. there is also a product made by Evercoat made for use on urethane, but i personally have never used it. Nikki or Big Daddy will know best.
depends on the extent of the damage really.
Urethane based bumpers/etc: flexible, harder to do serious damage to, but a PITA to fix... and even then once it's cracked you really can't get that same strength back.
Fiberglass: quality can suck, not very flexible, but very easy to repair and get close to if not exact or stronger than it was origionally if you know what you're doing
I had a streetfire front on my sunfire before I got rid of it that was wrecked... I thought "hmm... I've repaired urethane before, that shouldn't be a problem". I was wrong... my bumper had a HUGE crack in it, I fixed it 3 times even going so far as to add metal brackets to the underside of the bumper (small ones) and riveted them into the bumper (recessing the rivets so they could be filled over later). The metal brackets held up for about 3 or 4 months before they gave out and I gave up.
So, without seeing pictures of the actual damage it's hard to say whether or not it is indeed repairable... and for how long it may hold up. Then you also have to consider, the Streetfire front is a very heavy bumper which sits very low to the ground... so depending on how secure the bumper is and the damage, there could be a lot of extra stress from the weight on the bumper, and it may actually not be as repairable as you may think.
So, if you have pictures, please post them up so we can give you a more accurate answer.
