What is Best to Use to Mold Bumpers onto my Car?

Ok I am attempting to mold Poly Bumpers onto the Front and Rear. What do I need to use to get it done right. I have done Fiberglass bumpers onto metal body panels before but never molded Poly bumpers. Thanks in advance!

well your first step will be to use either 3m panel bond 8115, or Fusor 147. i prefer 3m. never had a problem with it. basically, you hit all the seams with the panel bond....bolt up the bumpers, and let sit for at least 24 hours. panel bond has a long time to work with it, so unlike glass or filler, you can play with it til its perfect. then come back and grind down the excess(if any).

after that it prolly wouldnt hurt to do a very thin skim layer of duraglass, just for a little extra hold. then sand down and again very very light filler. sand down, and again with a thin layer of icing.

block sand out and prime/paint.

thats basically what i would do. i know Z2flip4 molded his urethane stuff. not sure if he used a duramix type filler or basic body filler. he could prolly give you a better idea on the best filler to use.

i will tell you this yes 3m panel bond sticks to plastic but goin plastic to metal not to sure
i don`t care what material lyou use on plastic any product line of bondo or fiberglass nothing like that sticks to plastic this has been a ongoing conversation on this forum
i personlly had to fix this exact "molding" disaster, nothing sticks to plastc besides panel bond and or plastic repair material,
i dunno wut else to say, but dont do it

if its a daily driver i'd shy away from moulding it in. mines show only less then 3000 miles a year and im still not comfortable enough to mould urethayne to metal.

Well it will be all show. Less than 500 miles a year, so it wouldnt even be worth molding the rear. I was thinking about staying away from molding the front, but I wanna mold the rear when I Mold in the new tails.

yes it is definately the way to do. I just molded my urithane sides on and got a bunch of advice from Z2flip4 for it. He personally advised me to use the fusor 147 for urithane, its specific for it and works great
