im really wanting a lip for my 96 z24 ,but i dont know which direction to go in as far as trying to purchase one....well i know that wings west made an air dam for the 95-99 cavaliers(non z24)models, and im now wondering if it could be fabbed to fit and be molded onto a stock z bumper.
then you have whiteboys....some on here griped about his customer service....the quality of his lip...and in all reality this would be the way to go.....BUT i dont want to take the chances of being con'd out of any money.
and last, but not least.......theres a couple of guys on here that has fabbed the lips from IF's front bumpers....and to be honest they look great..... maybe this is the wrong forum, but i would love to see pics IF ANY of a 95-99 z24
with any type of fabbed lip of any style if possible? but if this is the wrong forum i apologize and if someone can move it ..that would be great also. just wanna see pics. its something im definately gonna pursue doing in the near future.

I did purchase a front lip of yours from Brian Anderson. I had intended to give it to my friend justin(jcaff) as a wedding present. I told him about it ahead of time and he was very excited to see it. However, he never actually got to see the whiteboy lip. My jackass brother in law backed over it with his retarded truck. I was working in my driveway that day and had parts all over the place. He pulled into the driveway without even looking and crushed 2/3 of the lip. He also broke a bezel I was making that would hold 3 gauges. I told jcaff about what had happened and he asked if I would try and whip up something similar. I said sure. As soon as we got up to school, i wrapped the lower half of his bumper in aluminum foil and masking tape. I wrapped fiberglass cloth around the lower edge and allowed about 6 inches to hang down from his bumper. After soaking all of the cloth in resin I let it dry for about 2 hours. So now I had something flat and solid hanging from his z front. I went to your website and printed one of the pictures that you used to advertise your technic lip. I used that as i guide for where i cut the openings and cut the lower edge to get it to the shape that i needed it to be. After that step was done, I removed the fiberglass mess from his front bumper and put it on saw horses. I then wrapped more fiberglass cloth around the edges and down into the opening i had cut. This gave the lip some depth and also added stability. After a few days the lip looked like this
at that point I realized that I had a rediculous amount of sanding to do. So I sanded and filled and then it looked like this
At this point I shot it with rattle can primer and then test fitted it back on the car
after I saw what it looked like on the car I decided that I liked the way it looked. I made two copies of my original. I wrapped the original(the one in primer) in aluminum foil and then glassed over that. In this picture you can see that the two on the floor have aluminum foil on the back from the duplication process
this picture shows how i didn't measure very well because the passenger side opening runs slightly downhill towards the edge of the lip. You can also tell that the openings are slightly nonsymmetrical
Any other questions regarding my process for making these? I am in no way trying to compete with your version of the technic lip. Your front lip was very good quality. It had a few chipped edges, but thats to be expected with anything thats fiberglass. I only have 3 of these in my possession and one of them is on jcaff's car. The other two aren't even close to being finished as you can see from the pictures. I don't have any time to work on these projects due to classes and what not. If you would prefer, I will not finish those two. I apologize if I have offended you or hurt your feelings. Have a good one
I havnt ever delt with White Boy so I dont know how their business is but from the looks of the pictures you have I think that you just tried to repair the one that was run over. Thats why it looks the same, but the pass side is angled down a little bit, because you didnt get it straight. It's also a little weird how you have all kinds of pictures after you have the lip formed but none of the actual structure being made. I'm not saying this is what you did, but to me thats what it looks to be. Obviously you could argue me all day because I have no premise, just a logical conclusion.

you make a very valid argument. i didn't feel the need to take pictures of the initial process. it wasn't much to look at anyway. i didn't realize that i was going to be accused of copying someone's product. if whiteboy really feels that i'm infringing on his business or whatever, i will stop working on these and not sell any of them. if he wants the "technic lip" to be his thing, thats fine. this project initially started out as me making a front lip for my friend. a few people were also interested so i made a few more. the only one that i have completely finished is currently on jcaff's car. the other two seen lying in the floor are still lying on the floor in a nowhere-near-completed condition. i had no idea that this would create such a problem on here. like i said earlier, if i'm in anyway infringing on whiteboy's business, i apologize and will stop making these. end of story
alias! when you get done one let me know i will buy one from ya!

i like how you put at the end "us making it perfect" the majority of the time fibreglass needs a little bit of work to make fit properly, theoretically, i made my kit perfect cause i personally did the extra work on it?
I'd be intrested in one too.

or the fact he says they've only "sold about 5 lips to date" and then at the end says "there is several of them in windsor and everyone has given us complements". sorry i don't consider 5 or less to be several people.

ok time for me to jump in on this. i am VERY VERY satisfied with the lip i bought from Jakub(whiteboy). the fiberglass is thick and to me a very quality product, and if i had the cash to throw around i would buy another one to put on my blue Z(which originally had the lip on it anyways). i had to do a little bit of trimming to get it to fit but hey, ITS FIBERGLASS!!!! no fiberglass product is absolutely perfect. i dont see anyone ripping RK Sport for the infamous Type-J rear bumper wave when people have to put a bracket or whatever on it to get rid of the wave and its urethane, which is supposed to be a perfect fit... i dunno im just expressing my opinion about the situation, ignore me if you wish i just thought i would throw it out there.
i stand by whiteboys product 150%
