More information on this Sunfire hood please
Monday, September 04, 2006 12:19 PM
I would like to know any and all information on this hood i.e. where I can find it, how is the fitment, does anyone else have pictures of it on their Sunfire, etc.:

According to the owner of the car, it is called the Type 2 Ram Air hood, but she can't remember what website she found it on.

I am very interested in it because I have never seen it before and I like the look of it more than the same old RK Sport Ram Air hood that every Sunfire owner has.

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

I agree. I really like the hood, but the Hell Fire kit is definitely the worst looking Sunfire kit by far.

So, is Sound Speed a reputable company to do business with? Also, does anyone know how well the hood fits? Last but not least, if anyone has a picture of it on a different Sunfire, I'd love to see it.

Well my buddy got a kit and hood from them, kit was decent hood was actually very nice, finished on both sides and black gelcoated. Only thing is the edges are flat not rolled like a stock hood, so i'd spend some time working on them if it was my car (which reminds me soon i have to pull my hood off and redo it ).

Soundspeeds reputation has always been disputed but they were pretty good to my friend when he purchased from them ( he spent like 900+ at once so i expected them to) even threw in free mesh and L brackets for the bumper. I'd buy a hood from them if i ever decided to change hoods to a style they carry.

PS, I think oem eyelids is where its at for your car, but feel free to prove me wrong!

over the years ive been here, ive heard good and bad things about the company. i say its a 50/50 chance you get a quality product. i havent seen many people post about them lately but i know a few years ago people use to always buy stuff from them and some would complain that the fiberglass was too thin in area.

Oh gawd put that yellow s/f out of it's misery...
Looking at the red one's hood, it looks like a bad boob job, here though one nostril is bigger then the other.
It is an attempt though.

After seeing Manta Z's photoshop, I have decided against the Type 2 hood. It doesn't flow right with the rest of the exterior. The last thing I want to do is ruin the clean look of my car which everyone seems to like so much.

Now I am trying to decide between keeping the OEM hood or getting the RK Sport Ram Air hood. I think the OEM hood flows very well with the smooth stock lines of the body, while the Ram Air hood would add a certain flair to the front end of the car making it look more aggressive. Whatever hood I decide to go with, I won't be getting eyelids. Too many people have them and although I like the look they give, I don't think they would flow well with my stock exterior.

Help me decide what to do !

I have the RKS hood with no eye lids. if you want a pic I'll show you one. Personally like you said... the stock hood would flows smoothly and I'd stay stay with that if i were you--- you'd be rare too . The reason I put the RKS hood, was because I wanted the mini T/A look and the Ram-air. Besides, when I got it on, (late 02) it was still kinda rare nationally.

I agree. I have decided to stay with the smooth look and keep the OEM hood with no eyelids. The last thing I want to do is ruin the clean, smooth lines of the car. Also, I want the car to "stand out" which the Ram Air hood would really not allow since it seems like it's on every Sunfire.

With that said, except for being lowered on Tokico D-Specs and B&G 1.6" springs (before the end of the year), the exterior of the car is finished .
