Turtle Wax ICE
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 8:59 PM
So after looking at it one of my managers using it on his new monte carlo ss i decided to pick up the detailer and the new generation way of waxing and i was wondering if any one had tried it or heard ne thing about it?

You are supposed to be able to wax wherever and whenever u want and that u can wax ur plastics and rubbers with it?

It is a synthetic liquid polish not a wax but it is supposed to be exactly like a wax and better and easier to use.

I've been tempted to try this, but I'm not too convinced its so great. Seems kinda awkward that a liquid wax can be used in direct sunlight, no excess white powder, etc and still be better then the rest. I'll try it eventually.

I tried it and it doesnt seem to get the paint as smooth and slippery as my Meguiers Gold Class.

I'd say it's more like "Wax As You Dry" type stuff but clear. It does an OK job. But nothing beats a good wax and using an electric buffer. These are just good for quick washes or if you car is already clean. Might be good at a car show when you're constantly wiping and cleaning for judging but not the best by far.

Yeah he is kinda right though in a way now that I think about it. The ICE stuff doesn't last as long as I would have liked. But I didn't really mind because I am constantly detailing the car when I have nothing else better to do. I like it to stay shiney and it drives me insane to see even a fly stuck to the bumber for too long.

The turtle wax ice wax sucks!! It is good to spray on the garage floor to give it that fruity smell but that is about all it is good for. It takes too long to dry and does not even leave a good finish when it is polished off. The quick detailer seems to work good though and I have heard good things about the liquid clay bar. I use the turtle wax platinum liquid wax though since it is virtually dust free and leaves a great deep shine.

I tried it and I was in the sun for a while and it dries too fast, so when you try to wipe it off it still leaves lines on paint, looks allright I guess, I think I will try something else, maybe the meguiars stuff and see if it is better(sounds like it will be).
I ended up going in my parents garage and doing the car over, because when it dried in the sun, it was really hard to get off, in the shade when it is cooler it work ok, not great, but ok.

zymol wax ftw. i like meguiars but i think zymol has a better shine if you do exactly what the directions say
