I emailed VIS and asked them what the possibility of making me a one off carbon fiber trunk for my sunfire would be, Since no one makes them... they replyed saying they wont make just one but they will make 25 if i was able to get a group purchase through... Just wondering if theres any interest besides just me for this... I dont have any prices or pictures, but we all know they make quality stuff... so?

i wrote them back asking price... and for more details. Ill have to see what they say... i would bet somewhere between the cavalier trunk and 500...
i know i probably wont get 25 but i know there more then 25 sunfires on the org so i thought it was worth a try.

i'd defnitly be in for one. i had my lid off last week and it weighs a ton. i was really surprised, it took 2 ppl to do it. the trunk lid is the same from 95-2005 with just different trim peices on the exterior so i dont think it'd be that hard to find 25 ppl. what a waste of dynamat on mine if i get this new CF one though

I know, 95-02... i know theres more then 25 members on here with a sunfire within that year... Those lids are very heavy compared to what a carbon fiber one would be. They look so good for the cav. And it wouldnt have the middle piece of reflectors or key hole i believe. Just smoooth. Im waiting for them to reply with a price. But they might move quicker knowing theres 25 people actually interested.

ya its ashame i really woudl like one to but dont really have that kind of money now. Is it just the trunk or the trunk and the bezel part that has sunfire written on it? jw cuase if its the whole thing would it have the reverse lights in or not?

Alright, well i called VIS today and talked to a guy there named peter. Anyways he wanted me to call back tuesday so he can run through some pricing for me. He mentioned around 600 bucks but he wasnt sure.
He also confirmed that, yes there would need to be around 25 people pre paid for the trunks to be produced.
I still think its possible... but we will see. Ill call them tuesday and get a hard price from them, and post it here.

I wouldn't mind one, but it would have to be 03-05. They look better, but don't have many bumpers for them yet!
I'll get one. I just want to make sure that the key hole is gone. I have money available but by the time this gets going who knows. anyways, I'll get one, put me on your list AFTER you get a few more details in full on this thing.
I got an email response from vis:
"The price will be $550 for the trunk lid. We need at least half deposit from all 25 people before we can make one. Thanks."
And looking at the cavi trunk they make the key holes still there. I sent them a reply asking if its an option to shave it. Personally i dont care either way.
Lets start a list... Put your name on it if your interested and can do it, and put if you want the key hole or not... ill let you know what they say

i wish i had a business so i could buy the extras to make 25 and then sell them later when people have the money. then we could have another product out for the cars and it'd be a very small quantity of people who have it.
