uhm ok...i got my 2002 z24 rear bumper from GM...brand new
it came with the lil deals under the tailights (some peice idk wtf it is)
attacht to it....
my ? is...when i take my 98 z bumper off...do those peices come off with it like the 02..or do they stay on...
do i take them off and use the 2002 whole thing....or do i cut them off the 2002 bumper...??
im really lost

You should be able to just unbolt the little squares under the tail lights, then just put your new bumper back on.

yeah the "squares" came on the 2002 bumper stock...
and im just wondering if i can just unbolt the 09 "squares" and just use the 2002 ones

Yeah, you just have to peel back your trunk carpet where your outer taillights are. I think there's just one nut that you have to undo & then they come right off. Leave the pieces attached to the new bumper & they fit right into the same place as the old ones. I put an '02 stock rear on my '99 Z.

Take off the bumper first. Then take out the 10mm nuts inside the trunk lid, behind the carpet, under the tail lights. Then take off the two nuts on each side under the filler panel.

Then bolt the whole new bumper on.

hey chris, even though the 99's didn't have the squares an 02 will still slide up behind the tail lights? no problems? i'm looking at putting an 02 on my 99 as well. although i was gonna go with a 4 door sunfire rear

err, I thought they didn't take the squares out from under the taillights until 03?

My 2000's both had the separate filler panels. I've seen 2001's with attached ones though... I'm not 100% sure when it switched, it might have something to do with which factory the cars came from, and when each one switched over.

I put an '02 stock rear on my '99 Z........the '02 had the squares attached to the bumper so it was all one piece. It's probably like Lenko said......they may have started the one piece bumpers in 2001.

Coolgrafix, an '02 Cavalier rear bumper will fit perfectly on to your '99 Cav.......I'm not sure about a Sunfire rear though?.....I guess it should since you can put Cav tails on the 4 door Sunfires. Does the Sunfire bumper have the taillight fillers already attached to it like the '01-'02 Cavs?

yeah the sunfire rear should fit from what i've read in other forums. i already put a 4 door sunfire wing on, why not a bumper. lol and yeah, it has the fillers attached. had a friend tell me not to do it, that i will look stupid. only one way to find out will probably go get it this weekend. if it's still there.
