Installing hood pins

Can anyone give me some tips on installing hood pins in a carbon fiber hood. I'm really nervous about drilling into my hood, how do you do it without making a mess..

Personally i to would take it to a shop. When your nervous is usually when u screw up. You dont want to mess up your hood, let the shop be responsible. Like said above, it wont be expensive. i'd say they would charge you the hourly rate of an hour, so 45-60 bucks depending where you are.

Use a dremmel, not a drill. The dremmel spins fast enough that you won't crack or chip the hood. Worked great for me.

install the pins, put some lipstick on the tips of them, lower the hood until it touches, then you know where to drill, tape off the top of the hood to prevent cracking the clear coat, drill a small pilot hole, make sure the holes are lined up properly, then drill the larger hole, not that hard, just take your time and measure it atleast twice

Ok so my pins arrived and the instructions suck. I think there is 3 round plates and 1 rubber one, I would assume the rubber one goes on top of the hood under the stainless plate and then the last one goes under the hood itself, does that sound right? Also were is the best place to mount them, behind the headlight area?

I would mount them right around the rubber stops by the headlights.
