if ONE of my ballasts went, i could theoretically just order any ballast and it would work right?

yes. with the exception that the wiring is correct (aka if you use a cheap knock off kit, the bulb connector is different than a real d2s/d2r connector)
and i might have two matsu@!#$a ballasts/bulbs to get rid of if one of yours burns out....

one did
it just has 2 connectors for ther bulb
like a male and female connector... when I purchased the kit I was told they were mculloch ballasts but I dont believe so....
