i let a fellow org member repaint my car about a year ago because he seemed to do good work, but there are some runs in the clearcoat, and where he taped off the windows and all, there are lines on the door (right under the weather stripping. i was wondering how hard it would be to take it off to repaint the car, then re install it....and if it would be worth it...if so, can u give me a how to...if not, do you have any hints on how to mask it off well enough that i wont have those stu;pid imperfections? please help me out, thanks
More than likely the rubber would tear off, but the base wouldnt, leaving you with a big mess of junk on the panels anyway....I'd just tuck it down or not worry about it....I dont know how you even noticed during the course of a regular day that your paint didnt go all the way to your weatherstripping, unless you made a radical color change like yellow or red to your metallic blue...
so basicly your saying is that there is a tape line around the windows and he ran the clear
well you would have to have a glass company remove the glass then you can sand down the hard edge from the paint job
to get a run out i use razor blade very tricky to do but it works, i can`t really explain a how to with that online
or use a block made to remove runs , then use a regular block with 600, then 1000 then 1500
so if your not happy with his work take the car backt o him tell him to fix the tape lines and the runs

oh @!#$ dude if i get a chance i can try to make a video of the trick
but it`s very tricky to do, you take the blade on the edge and lightly rub the blade back and forth over the run
its real hard to explain but it works for me
