Meck's car has 00-02 lights that have a heavy eye lid on them. I remember seeing somebody who lids on his 95-99z. They looked pretty good.

^^ Mine isn't a Z, but I have eyelids.

If you need a better picture just PM me. This was taken with my phone. I haven't driven the car in about 2 months, so don't be too hard on me about the exterior.

Thanks. It's not something you can buy as far as I know. I made mine from 20GA sheet metal and welded them on since my hood is stock (metal). I think Meckster's hood is fiberglass, so I would assume his eyelid's are made from fiberglass. I'm not 100% sure on his though.

^^ If it's going to be f/g molded to the stock hood, it's going to crack. I used f/g the first time and recently had to tear it all off and do it the right way.

Sorry to say then you must not kno what your doing. This guy i go to knowns his fiberglass!
I had my rim off my car and it faill about 10 inches on to my sideskirt and it didn't even bust or crack. Thats how strong this guy lays this fiberglass..

So just watch and learn

No need to be a prick. It will eventually fail.

Watch and see.

your judgeing my guys work before you know who he is and what he can do.

This guy been doing this for 20 + years and if anyone can do it correct it is him.

Not being a prick you just jumped on me.

And you were judging my work w/o knowing who I am and what I can do. Ask someone (other than your body guy) about molding f/g to sheet metal and see what they say.

I didn't jump on you, re-read it. I was giving you pointers so you don't make the same pointless mistake I did.

Why does everybody have to be so defensive, you came on here to find out some info/ get pictures. Somebody helps out by giving you some info on his experience on the thing your asking about, and then you start a bitch-fit. If your guy does fiberglass that good than you got nothing to prove, your lids wont fail, if they do well at least you knew it was a possibility. Man why is everyone so defensive about @!#$ that doesn't matter.

No offense intended, but I've seen so many posts go down this road. Were here to help each other out and get information about our cars, so act like human beings.

Just my 2cents

i assumed he was judging me by this post.. sry

my guy blended my kit to my car using fiberglass and i backed into a curb and jacked my car up and it didn't phase it.. so i assume he knows what he is doing.

Here's a picture of an '03 with eyelids on the hood. This hood will be in carbon fiber as soon as I can find a temporary replacement for it.

The fiberglass will crack almost without fail unless they mold the eyelids on and then lay a layer over the entire hood. Figured Id warn you b/c I've seen at least 6 hoods that were cracked there.

STREET ANTIX, it's coming...

if they are doing the fiber glass on a metal hood , it will eventually crack

if they are doing firber glass to fiber glass , then it will last alot longer

"oh I have faith in you but this isnt a junkyars, this is a garage"

ok sorry, but in all seriousness, its kinda hard for FG not to crack when molded to model with that much FG. Its one thing when molding a kit where there is less than 1/4 inch gap between the kit and the body, but I wouldnt trust using that much FG though

my hood will be FG then he is FGing eyelids on that. so i have faith.

Ok I know I haven't been around here a long time but I've been doing fiberglass for years and years, made models when I was a kid and made fiberglass computer cases when I was a teen. OK the reason that the fiberglass will crack is because of temperature changes, metal expands and contracts at a different rate then fiberglass, therefore when the metal gets hot and expands the fiberglass won't expand as much then you get cracks, it is something that also happens from the inside out. IT WILL HAPPEN there are no if's ands or but's it will eventually happen unless you keep your car at a constant 75 degrees at all times with ZERO temperature changes. I'm not saying anyones right or wrong here I'm just stating a scientific fact about temperature changes

When you ask the Z24 to take you somewhere fast,
it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder,
and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up.
