People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
Silicone has an issue adhering to paint sometimes.
And Josh, the images are dead.
The picture man.... they're like... not there. I'm freakin out.... But actually I would like to see them as I am quite cheap and fingernail polish is definately within my budget.
The images aren't working cause they are in your login on Yahoo, we haven't logged in.
Very cool write up though, no more people asking if you had a "Secret Method" of removing lenses other than the "Break the damn thing out" method.
Wonder if blank aftermarket bucket were available if anyone would want them?

2nd try!!!
{i hope these pictures stay up. they are working just fine in the "preview"}
i wanted to send this out to everyone to give them a better idea as to how to do this. i have been receiving allot of emails pertaining to this subject, so i thought id share what i send out to everyone else. its not hard as you can see, but maybe you can see get a better idea on it. here you go.
1. you may either brake the lens off using a hammer...
or you may use a dremel if you want to try to keep the lens as a whole...
either way, it may end up looking like this...
2. after taking the lens off, paint any red reflector left in the housing using back fingernail polish...
3. then run a thick bead of black 100% silicone around the housing...
4. then apply the lens...
now prior to mounting the lens, you may chrome your housing, carbon fiber it, mount a panel with LED's, throw in a red or clear reflector, etc. do what you can to make it as original as possible. i wish everyone luck and let me know if you have any questions.

kardain is very correct. you can use spray paint or something else, but this is what i had used and it worked very well.

the 00-002 outers will fit your housing. and that way you dont have the circles on them.... just FYI. the down side is the 00-02 outers dont overlap the quarterpanel like the 03+ do around the edges.....
