Lambo door(shock) question..
Sunday, February 26, 2006 1:58 PM
For those of you that have the MMS lambo kit, i had a question. I bought the kit last summer and haven't had any probelms with them until i went out to my car today. I store the car in the winter so i haven't even opened the doors since October really but when i went out today, i opened the driver's side and it went up but didn't want to stay up right away. The passager side, which doesn't get used as much, didn't do that. What my question was is that since it is still cold out that maybe does that have something to do with the fact that it didn't want to stay up? Has anyone else had this problem when it has been cold? Any info will help. Thanks guys.

wrong

It is the cold weather, gas shocks don't work as well when they are cold. Think of it this way, its like your tires, they seem to loose pressure when its cold, but when they warm up, they expand again, same principle.

well while that's true and all, it should not make the door not stay open at all, or else those shocks on them are not rated high enough. The gas shocks on my trunk will not work as well in the winter, but they still will hold the trunk up. Also, since his passenger side door still holds, there is obviously a problem with the drivers side.

I would say the shock MIGHT be going bad but at the same time i know the cold weather has something to do with it also because i use mine in the cold all the time and they dont want to go up and stay but i get a 65 degree day out the other week and i barely touched the doors and it sprung up like new and stayed.

mine do it all the time when its cold, it wont stay up that great, but in warm weather they stay up great. You are talking about an 80 pound door by the way

Thanks guys for that info. I guess i will have to see how it goes when it warms up a little bit considering it is only about 25 degrees right now. Like i said it goes up but obviously not how it did when it was the summer. Just thought i would ask you guys since i know there are alot of people with these doors. Thanks again.

I found that out during winter in 04. the doors started to sag, and didn't hold up too great. Then I drove to the exhaust shop where my car was inside a heater garage formore than 8 hrs...i went to pick the car up and the doors stayed up perfectly again.

but then a few months later the shocks crapped out on me. mine were the VDI shocks, I upgraged to the MMS 850 lbs shocks now

my 2nd shock just crapped out on me. I have a replacement set, but will probably sell the kit after getting the shocks replaced on warranty, being as it's a real pain in the ass.
