Z24 spoiler install ?
Monday, February 13, 2006 7:38 PM
I have a 01' ls. I just got a 01' Z24 spoiler that i would like to put on it. Im not sure how. The spoiler has three posts and what looks like three bolts molded into the spoiler. Do I need to drill seven holes in the trunk to mount this? No nuts or mounting botls came with the spoiler when I got it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yes. the 3 "posts" have nuts that go on them inside the trunk, its not too hard to install. you will have to drill an 8th hole to run the wiring for the brake light.
the only tricky thing is the measuring, take your time and measure twice. you don't want to have to drill more holes.

if you have a factory ls spoiler on it now just take it off and put the z24 one on.

if you have the small spoiler , the tall 1 will directly repalce the short 1

other wise you gotta dril about 7-9 holes if i remember right

Thanks for the help so far.

I do not have a spoiler on the ls so there are no holes to use. The hardest thing im having trouble with is getting the measurement right so that the spoiler sits flush against the trunk. To far forward and the spoiler wont go on because of the lip. To far back and there will be a gap between the spoiler and the trunk. D'oh

If anyone knows of a write on the process that would be great. I've looked around the web for a tutorial but can't find anything.

Im going to try it this weekend. The thought of drilling 8 holes in my trunk is kinda scarey. If anyone has any hints, tips, or suggestions, any help at all is greatly appericiated.

best thing i can tell you is to either find a friend local with 1 and make a templet using his trunk lid holes

or pull the studs out of your spoiler , and use something like grease or paint or something that will stick to both surfaces and transfer some to the other serface

youll put it around each bolt hole , and need to rough guess the hole for the 3rd brake wires

if you look in the underside of the trunk lid you can see all the spots for the genral area they will go into

and the wires for the 3rd brake light should already be sitting there waiting to get pluged into
