Cutting Urethane?
Monday, January 09, 2006 10:07 PM
Hey guys, I am about to pick up a Urethane Drift front bumper and was planning to do a 95-99 headlight conversion and use black projectors and corners.. but the more I think about it I would like to keep my 00+ headlights and get black housings for them..

My question is.. is there an easy way to trim it to fit the bumper to make it look like this?

redcav00s car.. for example..

I have Type J sides and rear and I want all urethane and really want a drift front, and I came across one for 95-99 and just wanna know if this is gonna be possible or would be easier to do a front end conversion ?

Thanks for the advice

i have an 02 with an import fighter front, and managed to get it attached and looking quite good without trimming...was looking into doing a headlight conversion with black projectors too but that involves new wirring harness, the projectors and the brackets. I want to eventually do that, but i think trimming the kit would be the easiest route.

Cutting it isn't so bad, you can use a grinder with a cut off wheel. The hard part is adding material under the headlights for a flat look, otherwise you have a hole where the bumper used to be under the headlights.

I used a jigsaw with Bosch metal cutting blades, I think 20 tpi. Leaves a nice clean edge. To minimize fraying, put tape around the cut line. If you want you can cut just shy of the line you drew and then use a sander or grinder to go right ot the line. Just take your time and it should turn out good.

If your doing the 2ooo+ lights just keep cutting small strips until you get it to where you need it, you can always cut more but to replace it it would be a PITA.

I agree.. thanks flip.. I will keep that in mind.. then again I may just use 95-99 Headlights and corners.. since I need bumper headlights corners and Fenders as it is.. I can go either way with it.. im only keeping SS hood of what I have now..

Just not sure on how to make 2000 lights into 95-99 lights.. I know you can go from 95-99 but for some reason I hear it doesnt go the other way for whatever reason
