is it worth the money for the look?
Saturday, January 07, 2006 8:59 PM
sorry if this is in the wrong forum but its for show and i think it goes here. At www.dynotunenitrous.com they sell the fake nitrous purge... i know that some one out there will ask it so here is the questions an answer before any one else can answer. Q: Why not just get nitrous and you will have real purge? A: My engine is EXTREMELY tired ... 305K miles!! all i want for now is a fake purge system for my car show i have around here. is it worth the buy? Does it actually work?

if you arent going to actually run nitrous in the motor i would say just get a co2 purge kit gives you the same effect without having to use nitrous.

normally, i would say hell no thats as bad as the fake BOV...but that poor engine doesn't need to be on nitros. lol. so if it will stop you from putting that old engine on nitros go for it. also i dont think anyone here has tried it.

well for the engine living question; i have absolutly no clue lol, its been running fine for the year and a half ive had it. When i bought the car the owner said it was just highway but still thats alot of miles. For darkstars question; yes it will be for that car but i have about a 4 grand parts list that is just about able to be orders but i dont trust my school, lots of key scratching and tires slashing, etc... and for Brian, jw why dont i want to do that? whats so bad about it?

if the engine sucks so bad, why are going to dump 4k into parts and not try and atleast do some type of rebuild on the engine

hmmm....Not sure how much more use you will get out of that engine. Personally id be afraid to dump any more money into that car.

simple...... its your car, do what you want, i may be a newbie, but i've asked lots of questions like that on 4x4 forums, and you'll get a lot of people with a lot of different opinions. Something like that on older cars is cool once and a while. your deffinetly not going to be expecting something like that on 1st gen. (i'm guessing its a 1st gen with that kinda miles)

if its for a show car with high miles, i think it wold look better if you fully installed the nitrous kit with a purge kit, but just never spray it into the engine...it would look kinda silly at a show if you purge, but have no kit under the hood, know what i mean?

i think you would probalby get lauged at. if im judging a show car, you'd get more points for an engine swap then you would a fake purge. well actually fake purge probalbly wouldnt get you any points at all. if your engine has that many miles save your money up for a new engine dont waste it on fake stuff to try and impress people that dont know any better

I'm torn on "fake" mods... this is right up there with rear disc brake plates, that LOOK like rear discs but just cover up the drums. Ugly.

There's no point to pretending you have nitrous... because when you go to race someone, hit it to show off and scare them.... oooh.... look, the car is still slow even with nitrous. It makes a mockery of nitrous.

But if it's simply for shows... then give 'er. If you have a stock car, why bother.

I could understand if you HAD nitrous.... and liked to purge a lot... getting a CO2 kit so you could hit it for looks.... then hit the real purge once before you run. If you drive around purging everywhere, it uses up the nitrous really quick. That adds up.
