Lambos and Streetfire sides
Monday, December 12, 2005 12:25 PM
I have heard that there are rubbing issues with using the MMS lambo hindges and Street fire Side Skirts

Is it true that there is an issue? What is the exact problem? Is there an easy fix?

Thanks all for your help.

there is an issue, due to the piece that comes up the fender. because the lambos wanna go over that part where the overlap is, where as the normal opening tucks itself when open. not sure if this makes sense for you.

but its not just the streetfire skirts, i guess its any skirt that comes up the fender

I have heard of a problem, and if I remeber right, you have to just get rid of the skirt (which most don't do) or shave the skirt down some.

well, my buddy (Her0in) and i put lambos on his sunfire with the streetfire kit...

you can open the door slightly, but you have to start raising the door almost immediatly. it'll clear the front of the side skirt then (keep in mind this is only if you don't have the door panels). the only thing is, you can't open the doors regularly and if you have a passenger who doesn't know better, they could mess up the side skirt.

Is there anyway I could make it work?

if you're not using the door skins, then yes, cuz you could shave it in a bit, but if you're using the door skins, i think it would be hard to shave anything and still make it flow with the door skins.

but im sure someone has done something to ger around this. lots of people have lambos.

I have them. Yes rubbing is a HUGE issue, I learned to deal with it, because I don't use my car often.(once a week)

If you use your car as a daily driver and have the side-skirts, DO NOT do this mod, or get rid of the skirts, or shave.

method and i have almost identical cars , even down to the color and yes there is issues with rubbing but like method just said i have and my wife have just learned to deal with it cause there was no way i was shaving anything off a 500 cdn side skirt and mess something up with the flow of the whole kit and its polyurethane and that is a pain in the a#$ to make look good once you start hacking it up ( and yes i am using the skins too) another buddy of mine has the same skirts and he has that problem too but i guess us guys just have to be a gentleman and open the door for our passengers looks kinda weird when you have a guy as a passenger though i guess thats why i dont have any guys on my passenger side
