Deciding On Fog Lights
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 11:03 PM
My 01 Cavy didn't come equipped with fog lights, and I am having a hard time deciding which ones would look/work best for it??? Any suggestions? For those of you that were in the same situation, what do you have? Thanks!

no 3rd gen cavs ever came with fog lights

they used driving lights

the difference is

fog = yellow

driving = white

not true on color of fog lights. Its the beam pattern which determines light use,
fog lights have a flat pattern usually with the top portion cut off (blocked) so they shoot under the fog. Driving lights usually have a round or pencil type beam

So then technically the lights in my front bumper are driving lights, not fog lights?

First of all, I'd like to thank wesmanw02 for being such a Cobalt-nut-sucking tool.

Correct. Tue fogs however are oval or narrow shaped with a amber bulb, reason is amber deosnt refect back to you in fog.

I was looking into getting ones for my 05. Are you able to change the bulbs in the stock lights? My Cavy didn't come with them, and I was looking into getting some kind of hyper whites or something so they match with my headlights.

I am sincerely sorry for the mixup guys, I actually meant driving lights. My cousin Shawn's 99 cavi has driving lights and when i drive it, there is an incredible difference at night. Not to mention, it boosts the overall appearence of the cavi. But from reading these posts i have decided what i will get and where i will put them. Thanks!

95-99 they call them foglights from the factory.

It has been shown in Europe and you notice most high end cars have yellow foglights because the wavelength of yellow light is better used in fog that a white light.
