Urethane body kit fittment.

Hey all, I'm gonna be getting the RKSport Streetfire kit. Having messed with fiberglass kits, I know there is usually some work involved in getting them to fit perfect. I've never messed with the urethane though, and heard that it is supposed to be a really good fit. My question is, can you just get a Streetfire kit, have it painted, and put on without worrying about fittment, or will it have to be fitted by a bodyshop first??? And also, anyone out there with the Streetfire kit, have you had any problems with them, quality wise??? Thanks for any and all info.

Due to the expense in producing a urethane kit, manufacturers typically take extensive measures to ensure quality of fit. RKSport by reputation is no exception.

With that said, I would never paint a kit (regardless of material/brand/reputation) without first test fitting it. There's too much that could go wrong and a few hundred for a paint job is too much to risk paying in case the off-chance that something went wrong. I would at the very least, take off the bumpers and sideskirts and just place the kit on (don't bolt it on) to just ensure that it's close...

Definately do a test fit. I had to do some trimming on my urethane kit.

I got the streetfire kit and had no problems but definitely do a test fit before you paint.

my type j kit had some waves in it till it was on for about a month, if I would of painted it when I first put it on it would of been all jacked up by now. put the kit on and drive around with it for at least a week (hopefuly of hot weather) to get used to it and let it form to your car a bit before painting.
