My wife has a 97 Z24 Cavalier and my best friend has a 1995 Sunfire GT. They have both decided that they want to do the CAVFIRE swaps.... I know that the hoods, fenders, bumpers, bumper supports, and headlights all have to be changed. But when it comes to the headlights this is where I need help. How do I wire up the Sunfire headlights into my wifes Cavalier and just the opposite for my friend.... how will he need to wire up the Cavalier headlights to his Sunfire????? Does anybody have any wiring diagrams or pics of what needs to be done???? If not then just a really good explanation of the procedure would be a LOT of help. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help!!!!!
you dont need to swap bumper supports. as for the headlights just swap the harness's over
Thanks for the heds up on the bumper support! How far back does the harness run or in other words how far back in the wiring do I need to change the harness? Where does the harness start that I need to change? Where is the plug (connector) located?
i believe under the battery.
just splice the wires u already have all the connecting pigtails for teh headlights.....
the cavy headlights have a 2 bulb system (one high one low).. the wiring for the cavy is one hot, one ground to each bulb..... the sunfire uses one bulb for lows and highs... the wiring is one hot and 2 grounds to each bulb. all u have to do is on the sunfire, split that hot wire into 2, wire one to the highs one to the lows than wire 1 ground to the highs and one ground to the lows and bingo LIGHTS.. sunfire is the opposite, take the cavy headlights and connect the 2 hot on both sides to teh positive on the headlights and each side has two grounds those go to the 2 ground wires bingo:-) thats what i did and it works perfect drl's and all
i had to swap my bumper supports for my swap. i guess it can be done without doing it i just found it easier to do that

OMG you are dumb!
Please look over under where the battery is and unplug the headlight harness. Just undo both and swap them. That way you have no ground or power problems do to water and everything. Don't listen to him please. Trust me and know I have one of best Cavfire.
IMO
What does the headlight harness look like? What kind of clip is it? Does anyone have a pic? We done the swap over the weekend and the Sunalier with the cavalier headlights is working fine but my Cavfire with the sunfire headlights well lets just say that is a dif. story.
In my cavalier the wires on the pass. side are color coded dif. then the wires on the drivers side. We tried to just splice in the headlights but that didn't work. We thought that it did but it turns out that the passenger side works fine but the drivers side is really dim. Any suggestions? On the passenger side there are 2 orange wires 1 pink and 1 dark blue ....but on the drivers side there are 2 blues 1 orange and 1 pink. Which wires are the power and which wires are the ground? As far as the headlights go the wire colors are dif there also. On the pass. side (which is working) there is 1 blue 1 pink and 1 orange...... The drivers side light has 1 black 1 tan and 1 pink
What wires go where or where is the wiring harness plug located and what does it look like? Please help ASAP????!!!???
TRD Cav Fire again...
Ok I just want to ask if you looked for this harness? Cause if you just follow the headlight wiring it goes to plug-in. It really is right under the where the battery is on the underside of the support frame on the driver side. If you where takin' off the bumper and fenders you would of seen it right there. If you take off your driverside headlight you can just go look under where the battery is and you will see it next to what most would call the mini ramair( or bong). plastic piping. Sorry it is dark out now cause I could take a pic, but you can find it really easy.
