I have them hooked up already on anindependant switch, would a good way to wire it so that if I turn the headlights off that the fogs will go off too be ...
use the positive from the headlights and wire the ground to the switch so that they will only be on if the headlights are on ...IE no power to the main head lights no power to the fogs.
i'm usually a little backwards on wiring so I thought it would be better to ask first.
Use a relay, run the trigger wire from the low beam positive. See pic below (route wire from low beam h/l instead of acc wire on fuse panel... indicator is optional. If it's built into the switch, its not needed):
Clicky
Close, the headlights need to run to pin 85, inline with the switch. Instead of running the wire to the fuse panel, run it to the headlight. (the ign or battery power wire on the right hand side)
Battery goes to pin 30
ok do it this way man and alot easier, ground your swithc and lights then hook up the power wire for the driving lights up to the small brown wire i think it is on back of dimmer swtch then they will be on with the headlights and the parking lights and wont need any relays!
With out the relay your putting an extra 8 amps of draw on your headlight switch which will cause problems later on. Wire it up as shown with the relay but use the wire off the dimmer switch to trigger the relay. I would also keep the switch in there so you have the option of turning the lights off if you don't want to use them.
Also if you use the power wire for your marker lights you could run the fog lights without the headlights if you wanted.
i'd say run the power for the fogs, off of your battery, use the parking as your triger on the relay, between there drop in switch, coming from the parking, to the swicth, then to the LED, and then off to the realy.
This way the LED will be on whenever the fogs are on... if you kill the switch, the led will be off......
when you turn your parking lights on, then you the fogs and the led will come on
wait for it... wait for it... NOW GO!! ---> '02 LS Sport <---

Can someone post a revised wiring diagram for someone wanting to wire these to a stock foglight switch and have them come on when the lowbeams are on? Also, please indicate which wire is "hot" for the headlights (there are a lot to choose from)!
I know how to run an inline fuse and hook up a switch, just need a map to guide me...
I plan to buy the relay this weekend and give it a shot! Assuming GM does not rape me too much on the stock switch...
First person to post an accurate schematic with some indication of which wires I will be using (or how I go about testing wires, I have the tester but have never used it) will get a FREE carbon fiber dimmer panel with silver icon decals applied (sorry, Cav only). Will ship first thing Monday to the lucky winner! Sunfire owners who win this prize can send me their switch and have it returned with CF panel attached in 2-3 days. I just need the template.
And thanks in advance!
Steve
I figure I can go on this way for months, giving away free merchandise in exchange for the experience and know-how of my esteemed J colleagues!
Oh yeah, one other thing (and I'm not seeking to jack this thread, only expand it)
If I buy this stock foglight switch, am I going to need other parts or will it simply have a couple posts on the back to attach the wiring like an aftermarket switch?
Thanks!
lol - any chance I can get a user-friendly one like the ones above?
That schematic, while complete and nice, is Greek to me.
Don't worry, if that dark blue wire is indeed the right one, I'll still send you a prize.
Steve
this would be assuming that the DK BLUE wire is a + wire
another thought would be to find the wire off the wire coming from the lil stick switch on the column, but I hate taking the column apart myself.
and for some reason it seems to me that the blue wire is the one you ground for disabling the DRL's I'm gonna have to look that up there are allot of wires don there, and its been awhile since disabled my own DRL.
ya know it would be easier to run it like the first digram I did with the correction that Kardain put in really just switching the power wire from the headlight to 85 and instead of having a regular fog switch, you would use the wire from the regular headlight/ parking lights switch
I'm going to get some food I missed lunch, maybe my head will be clearer then
