hood latches

hey i plan on getting hood latches and taking the stock latch off . i have a 2001 sunfire and they have 2 different sets of bump stops for the hood . di'm trying to get an idea of where to put the aftermarket hood pins . the ones closer to the center or the ones further apart near the corners of the hood. any pictures would be great or suggestions on where to put the pins.

sorry to thread jack but im getting the vis invader for the 2005 cavy and i was wondering if i should get hood pins. I know its a extra form of safty to the front winsheild and roof incase it were to come loose and fly up. But is it necessary to have them??? I hate the fact that i have to put holes in the hood. But i also see some have them and others dont???? Please will someone en-lighten me on this noob question of mine

fiberglass or cf hoods, reguardless of the quiality of it, or how many people say you dont need em. GET HOOD PINS, its not worth the risk of it coming up and destorying your car and causing an accident. and as for the origional post here... why exactly are you removing the stock latch and putting hood pins in on your stock hood? i personaly dont like the look of hood pins, so i guess i dont understand why you would put them on when theyre not needed.... i guess its just one of those things that people do to add horsepower... you know, like big aluminum wings and stickers..........

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote

he man i'm not trying to "add" hp by adding the pins . i like the look . and if i'm at a show or somethin and i'm out my car and someone ask me hey what u got under there all i have to do is take the pins out and open it . i rather do that then have to get in my car and pop it . i just like the look . i'm not like some people and do those kinds of things and think it adds horespower . i'm just doing it cause i like the look . no other reason .. well besides thing thing if i'm at the shows . i just like the look

if you add pins leave the stock latch on too. the pins are just an extra security feeling.

dude how many different times are you gonna ask this?

if the hood has a spot to bolt a hood latch on it is not NEEDED.... its up to YOU if you want to add them or not... personally that way I see it if the hood flies up and gets messed up it wont look any worse then drilling holes through it so little metal rods stick out

but dakrstars, my point is that a fiberglass for CF hood is not as sturdy as a steel oem hood no matter what you paid for it or who made it, and sure, most of em wont break, but if and when they do, it does a lot more damager than just ruin the hood and its a lot more dangerous having a hood fly up into your windshield

A nice set of hood pins will run ya like $10 at Autozone or Checkers...locking hood pins (better security) are like $25.
