I just visited the Wings West website and it said on the front page "Welcome to the new Wings West". I just thought this was a bit strange since I heard they closed their doors and were bought out by VIS.

ya it is the same, it's because North Americans perfer to have lots of names of cars, they like the idea of saying I drive an Acura, instead of a Honda, or I drive a Lexus instead of a Toyota.

Actuall the reason for multi-branding
Honda - Acura
Toyota - Scion - Lexus
Nissan - Infiniti
is because of exactly that... branding.
Americans in General see, Honda's as cheap econo-box cars that get good gas mileage. But an acura, well an acura is a refined motor company that makes high quality top of the line vehicles.
It's all about image. The japanease are smart when it comes to selling americans anything and everything.
With Scion the purpose was to market a customisable vehicle to the hip generation of americans. If they said they made a customizable toyota, you'd say, eh... dealer rice, but because it's a SCION the response is that it's pretty cool you can get all that stuff from the dealer for your car.

yeah, some woman fought me when i worked at a garrage about her acura not being a honda, and she had some excuse about the windows, valve cover, and stickers all either saying honda or having an H logo on em...its funny that some people will pay extra for an accord if u call it an acura TL.....and then say "honda only supplies the glass" she had NO reasonable explaination for the valve cover, and stickers under the hood....
