I have a couple of questions here.
1. Is it possible to change it over to an 03 or newer?
2. What is required for the change?
(I realize it will be headlights, fenders, front bumper, and hood, or is there more or less to it?)
I'm also thinking about dropping in an ecotec with a 5 speed if anybody has any tips or little tricks to help out on that and with what is involved in it.
ok, fenders are the same from 95-05 (except for the fact that 95-99 had the corner light bracket), so all you need is the headlights, front bumper, hood, and headlight harness!
that all you need to make your 95-99 cavalier into a 03-05 cavalier replica!

That would help but I think he has a fire.
Here is a partial list\(others feel free to add if I miss anything)
1. Hood
2. front bumper
3. front bumper crush guard
4. headlight harness
5. headlights
6. proper headlight bulbs
7. hood latch
8. turnsignals
9. the little honey comb guards by the turn signals(unless you go with an aftermarket front then you might not need them)
and a whole day to do the swap hope that helps I am pretty sure that about covers it.

the hood latch is the same for all 3gen jbodies (95-05)

Ok the list above pretty much covers it. Yes he will need the new hood latch it was changed for the 03. If you are going with an aftermarket front bumper u may not
need the crush guard cause it will probably need to be trimmed anyways. The headlight
harnesses will need to be changed. That is the hardest part of the conversion in my
opinion, because you are going from a headlight assembly that uses one bulb for
high and low to an assembly which uses two bulbs (one for high and one for low.)
Depending on which front bumper you get you may not need the grilles, but if you do
I have some new ones lying around i'll sell you real cheap. I have the part #'s for just
everypart you would need. You will most likely need to order the headlight pigtails from gm. If you need any more help just hit me up at mah_cmos@hotmail.com. I can tell you just about anything about the swap cause ive done it twice myself.
you might need to swap the crush gaurd for bumbers... or at least trim them... I'm not positive of that I've never gotten a for sure answer
Yes you need to swap the crush guard for sure
(Insert really cool picture of my car with some catchy name or slogan here)
yes you also need to search. this is like the 7th time this has been asked his month
It depends on what front bumper he is going to be using. If he
is going with the stock front yes i would get the 03 crush guard.
I used my stock 99 crush panel behind my 03 Bomex front (requires
some trimming). Yep this has been posted like 200 times this year,
and I estimate that it will be posted at least 6 more times before this
year is over. I thought there was a sticky somewhere about the
possible conversions.
i have the 03 bomes on my 99 and i never trimmed the crush guard! weird, maybe thats whats making my bumper not go all the way up to where it meets the hood.
Orlandomon: That could be your fitment problem if it isnt flush
with your headlights. I was referring to the sunfire crush panel
but maybe the cav. one doesnt need much trimming to fit. Lucky
cav owners.
Would you need anything different to switch from the 03 to an 02? don't like the new grill and lights.
duh me, i thought he was talking about a cav...

You want a older front end and he wants a newer front end.
You two need to swap parts. Problem solved!
Yea that would be a great possibility, hit me up if you would consider it
i just completed my swap on a 99 sunfire with an 04 front end
u need to change the hood latch, 2 small bulbs in the headlamps (not the actual headlight bulbs), i changed out the actual metal bumper also cuz it was easier than taking the piece that is need for the sunfire bumper off.
it took me aprox. 3 hours to complete the swap (and that is counting time to polish one off in the middle of it)
Oh and if anyone needs any of the gm part #'s for the parts
needed in the swap just hit me up. I got most of them.
Any of you doin the rear swap?
i thought about a rear swap, I was going to go to a salvage yard and see if i could find a sunfire with good front and rear, like one with maybe side damage
good idea...my headlights were from a junkyard. I got them
off a t-boned 03. Where are you from? I may can help you track
down the parts.
the hood latch is not the same on all 3rd gen.. my 98 sunfire hood latch wouldnt work with a 98 cavalier its a diffrent shape and closes lower than the fire
I live in Humboldt, Iowa, that would be great im not sure what there are for salvage and junk yards around here.
Hmmm... I believe your gonna have trouble finding a junkyard close
by that has the parts you need. I couldnt find much of any thing in
your area. Your best bet is to watch ebay, buy aftermarket parts, or
find someone willing to do the swap.
