I am having trouble seeing how the paint is going on the body.
I have a aqua metallic peal paint that isn't going on to well because I can't see the paint coverage as well as I would like to when I am spraying it on. I can see it better if the sunlight hits the paint but I am inside a shop with poor lighting.
Is spraying in the sunlight the way to go since I don't want to spend a bunch of money on better lighting.
I also understand that there is a different way of putting on pearl. Have any ideas on how to apply this paint?
I even considered trying to paint at nite using a trouble light to see the places I can't see in the day time that I am missing.
I have already applied the first base coat and not happy with the uneven look that shows up from using the pearl paint.
Of coarse I think this is kind of ridiculous to try to paint at nite but I am getting desperate at this point.
Anyone have any ideas on the best place to paint and what kind of lighting I need?
ok first off if you can`t see what your doin get some more light and does the shop have a booth?? or are you out side the booth and painting on the floor??? and what kind of hole in the wall are you working at that doesn`t have the right amount of light
no need to paint out side in the sun or at night if you can`t see in the booth tell the boss hey get some decent lighting in here so i can see wtf iam doin
and are you sprayin a base/clear or puttin a pearl over the base??? and what kind of system are you using?? ppg??? dupont??? ici?? spies hecker?? sckines???
i kinda need to know this so i can help ya out more
can i haz bondo
Hey Big guy thanks for at least looking at the gruesome conditions I am doing this job under. Any suggestions like how to shoot the pearl in the sunlight?
I am putting a pearl on the the primer. I am getting some orange peal along with the improper coverage. I am working in a shop at a friends house and don't think I can spring for a paint booth. I have a 6 gallon Sears compressor that goes up to 150 psi. It can flow to 10.
What kind of lighting do you think would help? : )
I don't really have any lighting in the shop except sunlight but there are quite a few windows.
I have a Finex 300X spray guan which isn't the best one out there.
I am also using a cheap paint also sold by Trinity. (No it isn't the religious christain organization).
They said it was as good as any other paint but I am doubtful of that.
Does anyone on here spray outdoors? I am tempted to try that if all else fails.
I probably have the worst conditions in some ways to do this job.
Now I know why most people take their cars to a body shop and pay them lots of money for the good results. lol

I see you're in Delaware??? How far from Central PA? (I'm 4 miles from MD, about 50 miles south of Harrisburg... near York PA.)
If you need some help and can spare a couple of bucks for gas, if you wish I'll drive down and give you some pointers. I've had to learn to spray good with poor lighting, so I've gotten good at spraying like that (not by choice). But spraying in good lighting is better lol. Shoot me an email or an IM

Hey that is mighty thoughtful of you to offer your help. What I am learning is I was shooting at an angle in certain areas and that is causing a lot of my problems like on the roof. The weather the next few days are going to be perfect for painting so I am going to give it my best shot and go for it.
If I don't get good results I will let you know!
Thanks

Okie dokie. Like I said though, my offer still stands if you'd like some help and tips! It's nice to get away from here once in a while anyways lol.
