Wagner TruViews...

I couldn't find any topic covering the Wagner TruView bulbs. Does anyone have these on their Cav? The light filter is ground into the glass prior to forming the bulb, as opposed to coated or dipped filters, and is supposed to whiten the light and reduce glare to oncoming drivers. I notice a very(very) light purple tint to the bulb and light. I have a pair of these on my '99 Z24 and I like 'em, I just wanted to know what others think about them.

hey bandit - how is that bulb compared to other bulbs? by that i mean, i had my silverstars and they were great but too 'yellow' for me. i have nokya arctic white bulbs now and they look great but do not give off enough light on the road. if there is some light from a street lamp then my beams would barely show on the road. what color is the beam on the road? is the purple very noticeable? how strong are they when driving at night (with other lights around)? and lastly, how much (if you'd like to say) and where did you buy them? sorry for all the questions - i'm just getting fed up with my bulbs. i hope you don't think i'm threadjacking.

I can't compare them to any other brands other then the stock Sylvania's and GE Nighthawks(brighter/yellower than TruViews) - both of which the TruView's are whiter than. The brightness improved, but then again, my stock bulbs were over five years old! The purple tint isn't noticable at all on the road from the driver's perspective, only when looking at them head-on, but still a very, very light tint. If you want deeper purple-tinted bulbs, I would suggest going with one of the 7000+K japanese brands that say that the light is going to be deep purple...but I doubt they'll be deeply colored and cast a huge amount of light on the road. It seems you need to decide if you want tinted light, or bright(better than stock)light.

all i've really been looking for is a bulb that has a similar light output to the silverstars yet has a white beam, not yellowish. i don't want deep color, i just want white and bright, haha.

I've never seen Silverstars light in person(it seems i'm the only one on earth), but the TruViews weren't really made for the "tuner" market so it's probably not white enough for most people, but whiter than stock. It's filter - "SpectraFilter" as Wagner calls it - lets through a small percentage, 15% I believe, of yellow light so the total light output remains functional. It seems some of the Super White bulbs allow almost no yellow through, thus making the beam very white but also very dim. I read yellow is one of most useful spectrums of light as far as bright, quality lighting is concerned. Not cool looking, but far more useful than the blue spectrums.
