Please for anyone who knows of Xplozion for cav...

Hey, I'm now shopping for the body kiy now... and I just cannot deal w/ this myself...

So far I like the look of Xplozion kit the most.... (BMX next) but when I searched here adn there, I found a few thread saying about fitment problem of this kit...

But then, all those thred is based on Sunfire... beside the pic given by the manufacture, I have not seen a picture or heard a story of Cavalier owner about this...

So, if you are the owner or a friend of owner, any insight as how bad the fitment might be.... It'd help greatly...

Cuz if it doesn't fit right, afterall, I cannot buy it.... or I guess it depends on how much the shops will charge me to put it on....

Anyways, Please any help will do!!! THX.

Also, I was advised to look for Utherane kits as they fit better but I could not find many diversity of kits with that materal....

ah that was over a year ago and I've since gone in the military and gotten a new computer. I'll see if any friends have the pictures saved though. Chris Foresta wound up buying the front bumper off of me so you can ask him how the fitment is on that because like i said i really have no clue.

and Also... is Utherane kits worth the money? compare to the FG kits?

definitly
from what i have been told if its your daily driver, then you will def be replaicing fg quite often if not able to reglass it. the urathane flexes instead of just breaking. in the front atleast definitly worth the extra money. not to mention the fitment will be better as well due to the flexability

Ok, a question....

Is getting Urathan kit worth the money?

I guess the choice is

1. Getting Urathan kit which is stronger...

2. Getting FG kit and if I get unlucky, I can fix it.... with the price difference....

I was told that FG kit isn't that weak, that a small object on the street won't demage much...

Here's some of my personal encounters with fiberglass and urethane. My friend has a fiberglass kit on his tiburon(Daily driven by a high school kid)...it's literally touching the ground when parked and about 3 inches off the ground most of the time *air ride* and he had the kit about a year and no cracks..just recently got one on one skirt, but not from just everyday driving, he did it in a driveway. His was an ebay kit too and it fit like utter crap. My neighbor has a fiberglass lip kit on his corvette and is sitting very very low, and he has no problems whatsoever, although its not a daily. and my brother has a urethane lip kit on his camaro with no problems at all. I intend on getting fiberglass, just because of the fact that when it does crack, you can fix it pretty easily. But no matter what you get, if you hit it hard enough it will break. Good luck with whatever you get!

Thx Starr.... Thx for your story.....

anyways, lip kit is the thing that goes under the front bodykit to prevent from breaking, right? I was thinking of drilling in some metal pad underneath, would it good enough? or is lip kit must have?

but to note, that even I am daily driver with that car, I don't want hastle, so I don't lower my car, keep it leagl, 6 inches...^^*

A lip kit is a an attachment onto the stock bumper instead of a full bumper replacement. Where as a body kit would be full bumper replacements or bumper covers like razzi or the GM extreme kit.

Alright, thx for your help, I think I'm gonna get the FG Xplozion... they offer 30 day garantee and if it doesn't seem to fit, I can return it, no charge...^^

So, that's good I guess...

Actually one more question.. if you guys know...

Is it ok to drive around with no bumper? cuz during the course of installation, I don't want to hurry to it.... lol

Check out Extreme Dimensions.

I just checked and they don't have the Xplosion kit, but you may see another kit you like. They have a material called 'DuraFlex'. It's like 75% more durable, and about half the cost of urethane.

I would check that out before you make any final decisions. I called them a few months ago and asked them about the Drift kit for my Sunfire, and they gave me a price around 1200 for the complete kit in DuraFlex...

did a search for my name and look what i found...

Well i sold the kit not too long after buy it off of slammed. I sold it to a buddy and it fit alright...just alright. I just couldnt go with a different bumper, so i bought another Import fighter front.

As it goes for the xplozion front... its dead. The kid I sold it to swerved from a deer or something and hit an embankment sending the car into a flip landing on its roof. The bumper just "Xploded"...fitting right.

Heres a pic:

sorry for the crappy pic it came from the newspaper
