Lambos Before Winter?
Friday, September 16, 2005 2:58 PM
alright, i live in south eastern CT ( if anyone wants to chill hit me up ) and the winters here can be either pretty mild or pretty rough. like last year for instance one storm buried my lowrider show truck up to the windows in snow. so i worked a few hours OT last week and got a check for 1,200$. i really wanna do lambos probably MMS for 500 but is it worth putting on before winter? i know you can open them normally which i would do 90% of the time anyways but will their be any issues with ice or junk that would affect them at all and make me wanna wait till spring? since i dont drive my truck in the winter this is my winter vehicle turned project car and i will have them on in the spring anyways and they will see winter next winter either way so is it worth it to hold off one winter on them or just put them on and go for it? if i dont get these im probably finishing my motorwork, and brake work.

Well my opinion is buy 'um now while you got the cash then just wait till next spring to put them on. Just to be on the safe side if your not comfortable with putting them on before the winter season is apon you.

yeah TJ2, i was thinking the same route your saying, buy them now and wait and put them on. but you know how it is. you get the package, and it looks at you and looks at you and looks at you. it says please put me on all over it. but if i ordered it and didnt put it on till later what if there was a wrong part, and i tell them hey i bought this X months ago. they might tell me F - off. then id drive my car thru the front door of there office but thats another thing. but thats whoever i decide to go with. im leaning more towards joe with the mms. heard decent things and for the price i mean dang.

izn- im glad you posted, cause i always thought of you as one of the first to do it. is it also for every day driver cars? i figure wtf buy it now because the snow never affects how the door opens, then again it never had a shock or nothing on it. i think im going to do it neways. the worst case scenario is ice gets in there and it just breaks when i open the door which will be regular all winter long unless to clean sand.
ne more comments though keep them coming.

my car is also a daily driver. i open my door at least 4 times a day every day. i have never had any problems....yet. but just so you know, i spent 1100.00 for vertical doors inc. lambo doors. i dont know if this has to do anything with my lack of problems, but i just wanted to let you know exactly what i have. i wish you luck and have fun. please let me know if you need any further assistance with the install.

oh damn. that could be the quality, and it could just be luck like you said. either way they look great on your car, well the car would look great by itself but they just add to the sweetness. im going with the installs with pics i found on here as theyre probably going to be better than the ones i can get with the package. ill come to you with ALL my problems with it dont worry ! lol jk

wait till next year.. kits will probably be half the price

Re: Lambos Before Winter?

not trying to back it cause i do not know for 100% but isnt it the reason its cheaper like redrum for instance is made out of usa and its cheaper to produce out there but its the same design? is that the reason for cost difference? i know joe sells them for 700 normally but its the gp price right now thats why i was thinking of getting them. otherwise i probably would do vdi. like i said im not 100% sure though, anyone confirm or deny this?

steel is cheaper over seas thats why. for as many that have bought these kits(100+ and growing) a very sm % have had any problems and its usually a strut. as you can see even the other kits have had the same problem including the VDI's. i say go for it, i mean theres going to be another winter so i dont see the problem to install it now.

exactly what they said, VDIs have had the same problem (in fact a good friend of mine bought VDI and they fit like @!#$, had to trim his fender and all this other crap) - Chin Wah (which joe sells) is indeed made in china, therefor being cheaper becuz of the steel cost.

one problem that you will find in the winter seasons is the fact that the shock will lose some strength to it. The cold will affect the shock and the doors might sag a bit.

^^ yup i live in AZ but i do get snow and when its really cold here and it snows i notice its really easy to close my door. so i never close my door with my foot out just in case. the olny thing about vert doors you need to remember is dont leave your door up if its windy cause it looks like it gonna get torn off when the wind shifts.

I SAY GET THEM AND INSTALL THEM!

i live in Colorado and we can get some snow here... i have MMS lambos on my car and they have held up just fine so far and i plan on havin them all thru the winter

Re: Lambos Before Winter?

wow this is really good to know, i didnt think id get as many responses as this to get them if i wanted before winter. yeah i realize all kits are going to have their problems and i get alot of people ( flip included ) that say oh you get what you pay for blah blah but if you look at the reasons why its cheaper its not that its a cheaper product. so i think im good, but since i ordered headerback and short throw and tranny mounts, ill have to wait till the next big check to get em but thanks for all the info and keep it coming!

i have the mms lambos as well and i'm very happy with them. i don't see how there would be a problem with the winter, but i just don't drive my car in the winter anymore so i'm not too concerned. i say get it now and if you're worried just wait to install them. doesn't take very long to put them on.

i have the mms kit and my car is a daily driver. no problems so far. whether you spend 1000+ on the vdi or 500 on these . the quality of the welds on the mms hinges is great. they are replica hinges to the vdi so i dont see y not save several hundred bucks. good luck with the hinges . youll love em

I NEED a 97-99 LD9 engine harness for an auto.PM if u hav info.!!
