had this idea for a while. I want to do my car with a DTM style look, but I have never seen any fender flares that would work. So I am going to take sheet metal and work it into the shape the flares need to be, then fiberglass on the bumpers and skirts to make everything line up. The rear wheels I figured out how to push out, but I'm unsure of the front ones, simply because of clearance when turning lock to lock. Do you guys think this would look good? for those of you who don't know what a DTM car looks like, here is a pic:
Audi A4 DTM Give me honest opinions. Obviously it will be impossible to do the large duct that comes out from behind the front tire, but I think everything else is possible, with some creative interpretation to make it a little more streetable.

It's because the do-hickey wasn't installed on the right what-cha-ma-call-it, and now the round thing is borked. The oblong thing is probably FUBAR now and will need to be replaced with a square widget.
Well there is alot more that goes into the exterior, I bet alot of the body parts that they have are very light and custom made. It sounds very difficult and expensive to do. If you can pull it off, more power to you.

I think you have to much time on your hands if you want to try and do this! As you have mentioned there are quite a few inherent flaws with the plan including the offset on the axles, realzing the Audi you show is an all wheel drive configuration.
Saying that, we saw a 3.8 powered sunfire at JCO, and they did an amazing job on the installation, but it stepped the front end wider than stock by using the OEM driveline that comes with the 3.8, using that configuartins, and then working the rear to match would be an amazing car, and quite a runner as well.
But as mentioned above this is an all or nothing project, we have seen a cople of people who do the "molded" widebody, but then leave stock rubber on it, and the interior will be just as wild. Also since the platform has been replaced it will becme an oddity in about 2 years, so you have a limited time frame to get it all done.
Would it be cool? Yes. Would it be unique? Yes. Is it going to be lots and lots of work crammed into a very short time frame that is going to cost an outrageous amount of money for what you will actually get in response? Yes.
For the money invested you could do a standard molded kit, standrad flares molded to the body, and fairly severe drop, bags or springs, and one heck of an engine build up, and it would probably take much less time.
Realize that the car you are showing is a full on race car that is not built on a unibody frame, another limiting factor.
Good luck, I will be there to help if I can, and offer opinions as well.
Anything is possible, how much can you spend?
as far as cost, all it will cost me as far as the bodywork is time and materials, I have done custom body work almost my whole life. I have an idea in mind on how to do it, the ONLY thing I have questions with is the offset on the front end. Again, got a few ideas tumbling around in my head, just not sure which one I am going to use. Also, I do not plan on making an exact replica of a DTM car, just more of a base look, with the certain style flares and the large sill on the rocker panels. the body kit I am using is the 95-02 sunfire bomex front, cavalier buddy club 2 sides, and 03+ bomex rear. the front will be widened approximately 2 inches, maybe 2 1/2, and the back is going to be an inch wider than the front, those numbers are for each side. As far as the interior, it will be caged, with a fiberglass center console and possibly a fiberglassed dash, or at least part of it.
here is a pic of the rims I am using
with a 35 offset, the back will use that offset and simple spacers with drag studs to help with the thickness of the rim and spacer, and the front I am hoping will fit with that offset alone, and maybe a small thin spacer, as I don't want to have to modify the wheel well any more than I have to for clearance at lock . The engine is not going to be outrageous, it will be a lightly built 2.4, pretty much just replacing the internals with forged, possibly a few other things, and the head the same, with a mild porting, stainless springs and retainers, and the like, my goal is a very conservative 250 whp on boost, with a T3/04 hybrid turbo, or a straight T3 if I can get away with it, for quick spooling purposes. I want a car that is very streetable, very driveable, not a monster in any way. And as far as the obsoleteness of the platform goes, how many thousands of 92-95 civics do you see that are modded still today? the platform only goes obsolete if the ppl that love it let that happen to it. Anyways, sorry about the lengthy post, just wanted to get some ideas out there, a little better look at what I am planning.
