Yeah yeah, before you yelll SEARCH!!!! just hear me out
I'm about half way done with a widebody/molded drift install, I've got both my rear quarters installed and molded. when i put them on I used self tapping screws, grinded off all surrounding areas to bare metal and fiberglassed from the widebody panel to the bare metal. Once I was finished wiith that I backed out the screws and filled in the holes later. I'm a little worried about cracking over time with my car being a daily driver. I've installed on of my front fenders with fusor and it seems to hold extremely well......the question is, should i grind off my fiberglass molds and lay fusor first and then build up from there or will i be ok with just fiberglass???? thanks!
i would screw it it and bond it w/ the fusor 147 first then work my way up the w/ the glassing
so i take it the wide body is a f/b seperate piece?? if it is i would have done this
1st off in my experience fursor sucks i would use 3m panle bond
i would grind the metal, and then i would rough the wide body kit with some 80 by hand panle bond need a clean surface to properly bond, i would not have used a sheet metal screw at all, no need if using panle bond,
then yes i would use f/b glass to mold it into the metal
if done correctly you will not have any cracks or problems at all
can i haz bondo
only reason i even screwed it on was because the kit was a little warped when i got it. that helped pull it all tight against the body. I'm pretty good with fiberglass work and minor body work in general but just wanted to make centain on what i was doing before I dropped a few grand on a paint job only to have it crack
I have only used fusor on one panel so far and it seems to be holding nicely, once it has fiberglass over top of it chances are it will be fine, right? As of right now all of drift sides are molded in with fiberglass only (under the door, front fender, and on back quarters....would you suggest i grind down all of that and just use panel bond instead??
Bah!!! im working in reverse now
Thanks again guys, I'll be sure to post pics soon
that`s why is cracking, to much f/b to much material poor preping
i would take it all off and do it again sorry but it`s true
f/b is not meant to bond panles together it`s meant to fill panle bond is meant to bond panles together
so yes you need to take it off and re do it
using 3m panle bond not fusor
can i haz bondo
