Prepping yourself might not save you money. If you have someone you know or something shoot it for you, maybe they will do it for you reasonalbly if you have it all sanded well and you prefitted it then brought it to them off the car. But they would a part from the car to make sure they get the right varience to the paint code for best match if only painting the parts and not blending in to other panels. Most bodyshops, for a stock part anyways, are going to look up the painting time in their extimating software for the parts, and sanding and prep is included in the time. If there is additional work besides only sanding and cleaning to get the part ready for paint there will likely be extra time added. The estimating times are for new undamaged parts. At any rate, you would have to check with the place doing the work if it will save you money. Many places don't even like to paint over work not done by them. I don't think you would save much if you did.

Autobody/ paint
^^^^ righto
Most places won't touch anything done by anyone else... prep or body wise before painting.
If you don't have a buddy or something that can help you out and do it cheaper.... there's really not much you can do... unless you're lucky enough to find a shop that will let you prep your own stuff and have them paint it... but then you would lose your guarantee
