well who remember me and who doesnt, this all started back in 03 , and i was pretty popular for a while , if ya wanna know what im talking bout check the archives in the ext forum "ugliest car on j-body"and "ugliest car on j-body *updated*" i think thats what the topics were...............if ya dont know me ya prob wont be interested in this post
well i havent been around much since those post were first run and ive gotten a few emails here and theyr asking bout how its coming along 0ne years later ......lol welllllll ssdy basically , but ill give some history
03 car destroyed
03-04 started building car < drift kit, molding, window tint, body work , engine work , exhaust>
04 got car back on the rd and looking alright
summer 04 <added bunch of perf stuff>hit dear, bounced guys head off hood, got backed into, basically just shy of looking like the first few pics
fall 04 crank went , gave up on the car let it sit for the winter
spring 05 went to rebuild engine only to find out every perf part had been stolen from it and some of the ext stuff <thank god the rims froze into the ground> had to put engine compl back to stock , which made me broke fast , and up until now i havnt been doing much havnt had time or money , but past few months theyrs been a few add ons
note some of this stuff ya cant see in these pics because , well youll figure it out,
ram air hood, black projector headlights, carbon fiber tails, x1 fenders, rear side window louvers, remolded b-kit, apc anodized red hood pins, painted calipers, custom faded paint job, and theyr not in yet but i got my eibach drop ,
basically what do ya think ? of the progress so far < keep in mind i do everything myself and dont have much time>

Assuming thats a temp paint job or something? Honestly it didnt look too bad before it was painted though.
Actually if painted on a real calm day early in the morning when there are not a lot of bugs out, and as long as the sun isn't beating on the car, it is possible to get a clean paint job outdoors. Plus you don't have to worry as much about breathing overspray and should have decent lighting. I would pick a clear/hardener combination that sets up fairly quick though, just enough time to get around the car. Now I would never paint a car where that one is in the picture, with a bunch of dirt, and a tree right next to the car.

Autobody/ paint
^^^ lmfao BS you wont be able to get a good paintjob outdoors, its impossible, theirs so much stuff in the air, pollen dust and all sorts of stuff, especially on dirt lol just walking kicks up dust
^^ right. theres all kinds of small @!#$ in the air that will land and stick in the paint.
lol this is cause for some debate .............
you can paint perfectly well outside , i have a teardown glass shack that goes around the car while im painting it ...............which keeps wind and other stuff out , i have painted several cars using this method and have never had one come out bad , and as for the dirt on the ground .............lol thats not a concern dust is lazy , look under the car you will notice a gound wire in the ground under the car which eliminates static charge, so dust stays down <dust wont stick to what its not attracted to>plus the fact i use a moisture resiliant base , and i went the ground down befor i start , thus eliminating any dust kick up ..........plus in case of any mishaps or dust getting into the paint i have a cure for that , 400-2700 grit sand paper, and buffers and rubbing compound .... .....anythings possible if ya take the right messures.....................but everyone is entitled to theyr opinion

thats not paiting outside now is it?? theres a huge difference is just paiting outside in open air, then in a "glass shack"
yea I like how he cleverely added the glass shack the 2nd time around lmfao! He saw the warning signals for Ownage

your full of @!#$, its very possible to get a real good paintjob outdoors. I bet your one of those people who think you cant paint anywhere but a paintbooth. Please tell me, where did you learn to paint, or have you ever painted a car before? Sorry to jump on your case, but i hate it when people run their mouths thinking their "opinion" is a fact.
You have a ground wire under the car to eliminate static charge? You may do that, but it sounds like a load of crap to me.
I mean, the way you stated it the wire is underground?
me get owned lol this is online .................in order to get owned id have to be insulted ........its an awsome paint job and not a flaw in it ...........so that should cover the topic ...............so is this what jbo is all bout now .........been a few years since i was around but i remember people being more enthusiastic then sarcastic

no the ground wire is tied to a steel rod that is stuck 2 feet into the ground with about and inch above ground wether you believe it or not is your choice ...........ever seen a lightning rod how they have a wire that travels to the ground and then is attached to a pole that is stuck into the ground .........it grounds it out ....same idea
and thank you dr paul

don't let these guys try and insult you ... every thread I read is basically a flame war of opinions.. some people think they are experts, some people are nice, some people are mean, yadda yadda
my personal opinion? you've done an AMAZING job. that car looks so sweet. Even before the paint, it looked nice. That's a beautiful color, what is it? it almost looks perlescent.
You've done a great job, even on a budget, it still looks better than 90% of what you see on here. can't wait to see final pictures.
the reason it looks pearlescent is because of the uneven paint job.
the car looks really good and you did a good job with the body work, but the paint job needs re-doing IMO.

i like it! and done on a budget, yay! i can see some blotches but whatever, and i also like the color
mods come once every great while... man i wish i wasn't so cheap..

in the original post, you said you had rear quarter window louvers, can we have pics? I was interested in getting the Auto Venshade Aeroshade louvered quarter window shades... are those what you have?
thanks
I would almost say either he's a horrible painter, or he used spray cans... Because thats what it looks like.
Draggin' That A**
Well, the car itself doesn't look bad, but that is the blotchiest paint job I've probably ever seen....
