rear bumper / trunk not sitting right

hey all, i have a problem with my rear bumper / trunk as you can see in the pics there is a big gap in between the bumper and the trunk.

ive changed the lock mechanism cause it wasnt closing, but now it doesnt sit totally flush on both sides, it kindof pops up on the passenger side and i cant figure out how to fix it. i tried the tension bar but that only got me a nasty bruise on my hand and didnt fix the problem. any ideas??

Looks like your car was in an accident, that whole area around the trunk seal is smashed up. That may be whats effecting the alignment...

so should i just try and bang the dented part out? is it just the seal thats messed up or is the chassis busted too?

if somebody could post a pic of the passenger side rear with trunklid open and closed so i can compare that would be awesome.
