depending how much you paint it can affect them, you can do some painting, but its best to leave some of the reflective part to actually shine your light out.
Basically you will have to heat them up in the oven to loosen the seal, pry them apart, and paint what you want, use silicone to reseal, Bake them for like 8 or so mins at 150 degrees

If you paint it all then you won't see much at night because the light has nothing to reflect off. Your best bet is to paint it all black
and put some projectors in there at the same time. That way it doesn't matter if it's painted black because the projector is doing all the work.

you can tint the reflective areas with something like night shades, it will allow more light to be reflected than a regualr black paint.
