it is a GOOD IDEA to do this while you are getting used to the body kit and to let it settle on the car. There is no point in getting it painted if you're just going to give it curb rash and bump into stuff trying to figure out where you can and can't go with it. Appearance wise, yeah it will look cheap and crappy until you get it painted.

If you put it on and have plans of getting it painted real soon then I don't see a problem with it. But if your just getting a piece at a time, wait till you have the whole kit before you put it on.

I agree... it IS a good idea to put it on without paint and drive around for a little while to get used to it. Otherwise, like he said, you'll scrape on things and scuff up the paint, possibly. Drive around on places you drive and see where you do or don't scrape.... so you know, then get it painted... unless scrapes don't bother you or you don't mind getting it repainted again later

i drove around like this for about 10 months and i hated getting into my car everyday.
I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you absolutely have no other option.

If you are putting your kit on before you paint it so you can learn to drive with it, I would only install it a few days. Unless your kit is fiberglass or have a steep drive-way, there shouldn't be much to learn about driving with a kit. Granted, driving with a fiberglass kit can be the worst thing since the bush administration but that still shouldn't be an excuse to roll around in it for fun. Test it out and take it off, it'll make you enjoy it later i promise! good luck with the car and keep us posted.

What does it matter? It's your car, and if you wanna drive with it unpainted, @!#$ everyone else. And I don't know about everyone else, but 3 days is a tiny time frame to get used to driving with a kit. You can't possible figure out all the places you're gonna scrape in 3 days. Do whatever YOU want to, not what the rest of the JBO tells you to do.

yes please don't.. i got my body kit and put it in my basement till i was ready to paint it.. i never drove my car with a unpainted kit and never had one thing go wrong( now i will lol) the only thing that happen was 3 weeks after getting it on a rabbit jump out in front of my now i have small scraches on it but that will be fixed next month.

It isn't a big deal to drive around with a unpainted body kit.

People are too hung up on this unpainted kit thing, if it's a urethane kit, it should be black and look decent even without paint.

If it's glass, it may look worse but still not a big deal.

I raced with an unpainted kit for almost 6 months, it was nice to see all these people laugh at my F&F wunna be car, after I blew past their times they changed thier toons.

People will always find things about other peoples cars to complain about.

It needs rims, look at that wheel gap get it lowered, vinyl looks gay, vert doors are played out, ect ect ect . . .

All these things are based upon opinions, IMHO (on most cars), even an unpainted kit still looks better then stock.

If you can afford to get it painted shortly after putting it on, do it.
If you can't, who cares it's still a work in progress.
