Zaino + Black Paint + Rock Chips
Monday, July 11, 2005 8:24 AM
Well, I've decided to invest in Zaino's Total Protection Show Kit as well as their Z-PC Swirl Remover.

I want the new Car to look Mint. Very Mint. Lets just say.... Ub3r Mint...

Anyways, I have some issues before I go spend $100 on Car Care products. My car has several rock chips on the hood and front bumper. The paint is chipped in numerous places (small chips, but the paint is gone). Can I apply the Zaino products on top of these chips (I am worried I may further increase the size of the current chips by running over them with a towel or polish applicator) or is it best to try and paint match them and then go through the Zaino process?

Concerning Paint touch ups, what is the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks for any input,

You should be fine putting that on with the chips there. But the best way is to fix the chips before. Just go to Autozone or pepboys and they should have a Duplicolor paint pen that will match your paint. Find out your paint code before you go in though and it will be a little easier.

if they are really small chips, just use touch up paint to fill them in. get a bottle and dap lighting onto the chip. wait like an hour between coats to make sure its dry. just keep adding til it becomes level again w/ the surface, then you can wet sand the area til its smooth. after that i would do the zaino products. just to be safe. i dont know if using that will farther increase the chips

With the touch up paint... remove the current wax from the car first I take it...?

What to sand with? 2000grit wet sand?
