Alright, if any of you have these hinges, how have you got them adjusted so the door closes without any problems? I'm having a hell of a time closing them from both inside and outside the car without them bouncing back at me, and feeling like i'm breaking something. I think my latches are breaking too. How have any of u guys with the kit got them to work properly? My latches don't move freely anymore because of this kit. What can i do?
It took several hours fine tuning our doors but they close fine 19 out of 20 times I would say.
Are you having a problem with the doors not staying down as you close them?? With our convertible, I felt the included 750lb shocks were too strong, 700lb shocks are perfect for us.
Just take some time and adjust and close, adjust a little more and close, it takes a while but don't be afraid to loosen the bolts and giggle the hinge and retighten. My final adjustments were made with the screw on the hinge itself. Not sure what other suggestions I can give right now.
yea, it's hard to keep the door down when closing them, also, if i push down too hard, it won't close either...i sorta have to hold it suspended to get it to close, i can only get it to close properly like 1 out of 4 tries or so, and i have to slam my door very hard to get them to latch. and now, my latches aren't fully retracting when i open....
mine work perfect.. just have more patients and fine tune it like he said....this kit is so worth the $600. It does work. I had to cut my bolt holes bigger and grind my nuts. Ittook me over like 18 hours to get them on and workin the way I wanted them to but they close perfect everytime
well the first set i had, they were 800 lbs and they were to strong... so i sent them back and got lighter ones... it still doesnt shut properly and there still hard to close
have you guys had any issues with having to slam the door to get them to close? i have to swing them very hard....what can i do about this?
When the door is closed, how do your gaps look, is the door flush with the rest of the body?
Just trying to figure out a couple of things, if the gaps are off, you probably are not hitting your alignment pin properly, and need more force to get it to shut. Same thing if the door isn't flush, it would be trying to close at an angle, even a slight one and require extra force to close. Went through the same problem myself with the first hinge I installed.
I had to grind part of my hinges to get them to work properly. Plus I never took the doors all the way off. I used a ratchet strap to hold the doors in place, worked excellent. Never had to make the holes bigger or grind the nuts down. If you want I will post pics of where I had to grind the hinge. It wasn't much, but definitely enough to make a difference. Probably at the most an 1/8 of an inch....Good luck, and just have ALOT of patience. The first time I tried I ended up with dents in my door....Later, Jay

I had to do the same exact thing also but i also had to shim the door hinge out atleast 3/4 of an inch because the door was sitting in further than the front fender and hitting it when i opened it. I still have some fine tuning to do and it will work perfect. Plus the 750 lb shock seems like too much. It a little bit too hard to pull down.
Mine closed like sheet when i first put them on my cav......but we spent several long hours fine tuning the doors with the panels and speakers on....then it just all came together and they finally closed like factory doors.....it was amazing.....that was after getting sent teh wrong struts and having the door fly up like a canapult......
but what do u expect for a $475 kit?
there is a huge gap between my fender and door, and the gap between my door and rear quarter panel is really small. What can i do about this?. Here is a pic to show what i mean.
Adjust the door forward. I had that problem too. Try not using the washers. I fit the door without the washers and then ground them down to fit after I had everything lined up. After the door lines up right, take one nut at a time and grind it just enough to fit...It gets time consuming, but works..Any other issues, let me know......Jay

My doors are so fawked....
Add to your problems, I have issues with the door rubbing the TRD side skirts... I head Sunfire owners are having the same issues... because the door opens outwards over the fender now, instead of stock inwards behind it.
I don't know if I'll be keeping them... they've destroyed my 'vert seals on the front of the door frame, and will never NOT rub on the skirts... hmmm.... daily driver mod, they're not.

Agreed definately not a daily driver mod. I'm having the issue of it being to far back, Just havn't had the time to adjust it or mess with them agian. I have been talking to joe about these issues as well. and he has basically said the same info as above. My passanger side was an awesome fit. But driverside became a nightmare. : / Looked sweet as @!#$ when they were on there. Hope you get your working. I'm just waiting for a more patient time for me to work and fine tune them if I don't sell them first. I want them but don't cause the car will be a daily driver during the summer. Good luck. Let me know what you did with yours to get it better fit.
ya it sucks that they dont clear the streetfire sides because i really like my sides but oh well I have decided to sell the and get type js
they're rubbing on my Type J sides...and the door striker on the rear quarterpanel.
