Custom hoods...

Do any of you have an actual custom hood or a modified hood for your Sunfires or Cavys? I'm not talking about a plain old ram air hood like the ones you get off of RKsport or anything like that. I'm mean something you had to do yourself to make it different. I saw one guy's car that had a nice hood scoop in the center and on the sides he had cut out a flame design into the hood and used some sort of mesh to protect from debri. He also had blue neon or led lights glowing from underneith so that those flames would glow. I thought that was pretty damn cool looking. I just was wondering if anyone else had gotten a little creative with their hoods too. If so post some pics. I'd like to see some of these.

mine is custom. i welded on my eyelids and the hood cowl came off of a fiberglass hood. nobody has a hood like mine 'cause my cowl comes all the way to the front of the hood to almost a point. all other hoods that are similar stop half-way down. if there is a hood exactly like mine, i have never seen it. i dont believe my hood is all that flashy, but sometimes too many cut outs and holes just doesnt give the car a clean look. just my opinion. good luck with your search.

i agree with IZN... i've seen some hoods with custom cut-outs like that... just doesn't look right... plus... factor in rain and things like that... yes the mesh may stop the debris... but if it rains... all the wiring under your hood sure ain't water-proof... so keep that in mind too... wouldn't want to see you put all that work into a custom hood and then have your wiring go bonkers because you got caught in a giant un-expected rainstorm...

Yeah that was a major concern of mine when I started considering it. I did see a hood that had something else instead of mesh though and it even looked better too. Not sure what it was though. Was almost as if they had a clear plastic shield underneith instead of the mesh. If I new how they did it that would definitely be the way I'd go too.
