question.. need some quick responses

ok guys I have my keys in hand... and I need some advice real quick

I'm off to the store to get automotive primer to prime the 03-05 rear bumper I just installed on my 2002 cavalier.

my car is silver, and this bumper is black... so needless to say it looks pretty rediculous

in order to make it look not so crappy for the time being, I wanted to sand down the black, and spray the bumper with some primer (off the car for the prime of course)

I need to know what grit sandpaper to get

I just want to scratch it up a bit so the primer will grab on. The bumper is getting painted by a shop after the bash, i'm just looking for a temporary not so HIDEOUS look.

also any particular primer I should get?

Thanks in advance...

Why not just put the stock bumper back on until it gets painted? Personally I would just leave it black until you get it painted. If you spray primer on thats just more work for the painter to sand it bacl off. Do you really want rattle can primer under your new paint?

Wurd. I would just leave it like it is because a short term fix could mean long term problems

I'm actually considering spraying the bumper myself

it doesn't seem like it'll be too hard... and I'd like to know how to do it

the best way for me to learn is trial and error

I got the bumper for free, so I figure what the hell.

it'll be primer for the bash, but get painted very shortly after ( i need paint and a paint gun)

my stock bumper got pretty f'd up this winter since my township is gay and made me push my car up my driveway (since it was snowing this was NOT easy) with half its engine missing.
