Man, I just can't stand the huge gap anymore between the top of my rear tires and the 1/4 panels - just plain ugly.
I am buying a set of 18" wheels, but they are coming with the low-profile tires - that's not going to kill any of that gap, is it?
Lowering the car is not an option - the front valance to my kit is already way too low as it is, and I can barely drive the car anywhere since I got it repainted. I mean this thing scrapes everywhere...
Any other suggestions? Am I going to have to go to a bigger tire?
Thanks!
Steve

i think ur out of luck, with low pro tires it will prolly get bigger, i would get a tire to match the same diameter as stock tire with wheels, so the gap will not get bigger
either lower it or your out of luck. you get a bigger tire its gonna throw the speedo off and the rims are gonna look smaller
you can't get a bigger tire to make the gap smaller because the tire HAS to be the right size or your speedo will be off. the only thing thats going to make the gap smaller is lowering the car. you could check the suspension and brake forum to see what options you have for lowering. you have a decent amount of options from coil overs, to springs, to air. remember, our cars are basically 4x4's stock, so lowering is a must.
who cares about your speedo being off 5-10% as long as you know how far off it is you can mentaly compensate and know how fast you are going

Nah, I gotta have all my stuff working to specs - otherwise it feels kinda ghetto to me. I'm gonna have to live with the fender gap for now. I agree that the bigger tires just make your rims look smaller, and I am not lowering this thing any more - I wont even be able to get in my driveway if I do.
Guess I'll have to spend some serious cash later on to be able to lift the front end while I'm driving and lower the car when parked...

when you put on 18's it will probably lift the car up a bit, allowing you to lower it =)
Only other thing you could possibly do... someone confirm this?
Buy or make fender flares and place them lower on the fender then the stock fender.
But you might want to somehow lower the inner fender splash panels to match the fender flares...
Other then that, lower or live with it.

yea but it will throw other things off too
hopefully you're getting 225/40 or 215 or the gap is goign to be just as large. Otherwise you should have went w/ larger rims (19's) and lowered it w/ a prokit(mild drop of about an inch)
mod your car so the body is like this over the wheels
you'd just have to jack up the body to change your tires

Maybe I'll just throw some 100 lb. weights in the trunk
Not like I'll be winning any races, anyway.
Thanks for all of the good advice. I think I'll consider modding the 1/4 panels. Maybe in 2 years...

With this air ride, I can adjust the height from the inside using switches, etc?
How much is THAT gonna cost me?
Also, am I gonna have to have a trunk full of batteries to do that?
WIll the car be able to dance?
Steve

Air ride uses bags, which mount up like factory struts, airstruts as most would call them.
As for dancing/batteries in the trunk, you're thinking of hydraulics vato!
...and yes, air ride can be controlled both inside and outside of the car.....
Any idea of approximate cost? Who would install a project like this?
Finally, will I still be able to use the strut tower braces or would they be obsolete?
Thanks again.

no offense but you need to take a trip to the suspension forum
air ride there are no batteries. you can still make the car dance but your gonna be loosing alot of air doing so. in return you have to run your compressor to get more air. depending on how big of a compressor you run and how many will determine how quick it fills up. how big your tank is will determine how long you can play w/ the switches. theres endless possiblities w/ it. i have a 10 switch box and w/ 50ft of chord. so i can be in my car or away from my car and play w/ it. as for cost, your looking around 1800-1900 for an easystreet kit. install is easy. do it yourself and saves a @!#$ load of money
The other thing that you might want to try, Even though I dont know how your car sits, is just drop the back end. You said that your front clip scrapes, but what about the rear end. If you put adjustable coilovers on the car you can keep the front at stock height, and drop the rearmaybe an inch or two. You mi9ght try that if your rear isnt already ttoo close to the ground.
if your front already scrapes as much as you say how do plan on making your car dance, would look like square dance night at the old folks home with your kit splintering like an osteoporatic hip
life is full of choices
I dont want it to dance - I was just kidding
I talked on here once before about just lowering the back, but someone said it would mess up my drag coefficient so I gave up on that idea.
I think I'm gonna go air ride - seems like the best option.
Thanks,
Steve

get about 3 fat bitches in the back seat ...
Anywho ... if you were worried about scraping you shouldnt have gotten a body kit...
If your trying to build a show car lowering is a MUST! so yea good luck
