ok, i'm in the process of doing a lot of urethane work and am using urethane epoxy stuff. i'm just curious as to how welding urethane works and how to do it, it would make my life a lot easier i think. any info anyone has on this topic would be great. thanks in advance
I have heard that urethane welding is easy, a friend of mine bought a Urethane welder, and after messing around with it for less then an hour, he has repaired dirtbike fenders, fuel tank, overflow reservoir, and a truck fender flare...
So assuming how fast he picked it up, and from what I have heard from other Urethane welding is pretty easy.
I was looking for a few forums or any type of tutorial for Urethane Welding a while back ago, but I never found a single one.
Urethane Welders run anywhere from $150 - $500 so kinda hard to just buy one to mess around with.
Search the distributor sites, not the forums. One distributor of poly welding supplies has quite the tutorial section all over their site.
there are allot of different types of plastic, polyurathene. polyproplene, tpo, tpe, abs
when plastic welding the back side of the plastic has to be lightly ground down and then a v-groove made
use the correct plastic rods supplied in the kit
can i haz bondo
cool, thanks for the info guys. would be sweet to pick one of these welders up, not sure how much use i'd get out of it tho, other than my current project
