95-99 Cavalier Drift REAR

Okey guys, i spent that last 2 days trying to get this bumper to fit and it will not go on. I have trimmed the crush panel down really far and stuff but right behind the license plate there is a piece of metal painted like the car that is welded on that might be hitting the kit. It fits pretty good at the top but the sides will not go back into place up along the fenders. Just want to know if anyone else had a problem with this installation and what they did to fix it. Thanks

Yeah, I had the same problem with my drift rear. You have a couple choices, either cut the license plate indent off the bumper and refiberglass it, or cut a notch out on that support beam.

Shaun - I don't think you bought it through me unless you used a different name. I haven't had a "Shaun" order anything yet this year.

What manufacturer is it from??

Take the crush guard all the way off. I trimed for 5 hours and then realized that I have like nothing left so I just took it all the way off and it fit LOL. Try it. It will then buckle along the top and you will have to make a bracket to hold it up. It should fit though.

Shifted, what did you end up doing with yours? I dont really know how to fiberglass at all, so that option might be out the window. The license plate indent is welded on though, how would i be able to take that piece off? Also did your sides stick out at first?

Jason- i'm not sure what manufacture i got it from, like i said it's been a year and a half or something like that. Was working with performance parts and like i said it might not even of been from you lol.

David- i'd like to keep the crush panel on, i think i got it down far enough to where it will still do it's job, and i think the indent piece is hitting.

I drilled out the rivets holding the black crush guard. I tried fitting it, only to have one side line up and the other way off and the middle with a huge gap. I walked away for lunch to think about it. I decided to take off the piece of metal that keep pushing against the license plate cavity. I used a die grinder to cut down the welds. I fitted it and the sides came out even. However I still have the gap between the trunk. I took the bumper back off. I did all that Friday. Tommorow I will weld a custom bracket to support and hold up the middle to make it kosher. Not sure if this helps.

take the crush guard all the way off and grind off the metal peice. I had to do that with my kombat rear now it fits fine.
