Any ideas on how to get the sticky crap from a vinyl sticker off the outside of a door. There was a huge sticker on the side of the car, and I removed, and I have been using rubbing alcohol. Today, I looked at it and it looks like it dulled the clear coat, but it could be because it needs to be washed. Will a waxing remove the dull spots? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh
if the sticky stuff is still there try goo gone
Rubbing alcohol will eat up your clear coat if you leave it on there.
Waxing will bring back shine but only for a short while.
Hope u didn't cloud the clear coat.
next time try some strong bug/tar remover (that stuff's made for cars), they use that at the sign and graphics shop i worked with, they worked with pretty much nothing but vinyl. as far as the cloudy clear coat, i'd try a microwax but that may not solve the problem. good luck.
I think I clouded the clear coat, thats what it looks like. Damn. But the rubbing alcohol wasn't on there for long, I used a water hose and hosed it off. I guess I'll be waxing the crap out of it. But there is still some sticky stuff on there now.
Thanks,
Josh
Anything stuck to any cars exterior painted surface is easily removed with WD40. No damage GUARANTEED!!!!
Go to your local car parts store and ask for decal remover. That's what I did.

I work in a vinyl shop. The Best thing is 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984. It a red and white can, and can be purchased at NAPA. I use it every day, works like a charm.
