Removing the rear emblem 03 cavi

Hiya I have wanted to get rid of this gaudy grey emblem since the day I got the car.

I know it is just stuck on... but what is underneath it? When i rip it off will there be anything I need to do besides remove the adhesive.

I am thinking of putting LEDs behind the center in-between reverse lights, so it will be one solid break light.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated(I'll get some pics up after weather clears up some and i have time to polish it.).

All that is underneath the emblem is adhesive. Just remove the emblem and adhesive, and you have a solid red piece. Look at mine:

Well, that didn't turn out as well as I would have liked...

I got the emblem off without a hitch, but underneath was exactly what I thought would be...

a big circle cut out around the keyhole. So, they molded the red piece closer to the keyhole on the 04 and later but on the 03 it has about 5/8 inch gab from keyhole to red piece.

Oh well, I will come up with something to cover it.

Did you expect the keyhole to just disappear or something...?

LOL, wtf does that mean?
As I stated above... I wasn't sure if the ends were beveled like the 04s are and they are not. The gap is alot bigger on an 03 then the smooth transition on the 04.

Maybe I didn't state it clear enough?
