Alright...Now, there is this like metal plate thing over what looks like the valve covers. Now, I was wondering how dificult it is to remove that plate, and what painting suplies I should pick up to make it look all pretty like.

i assume ur talking about the actual valve cover enless your talking about the little metal plate that connects the air intake to the valve cover, the valve cover just bolts on easy to take off just use heat resistant engine paint u can get it at any autozone or car store in your area

IDI cover = valve cover... different name, same thing.

i wouldn't use krylon fusion either... get high temp paint, primer and clear coat. make sure they say "high temp" too.

Usually I agree with you but this time, i'm going to have to disagree. It's the IDI Cover. The equivalent of Valve covers in the Twin Cam would be the two aluminum covers that cover each camshaft. I'm not sure of the technical term of it.. Camshaft Housing cover or something stupid like that. But they are different. The IDI cover has nothing to do with the valves, and if you had a standalone ignition for example, you wouldn't even need it. But enough technicality... Most people will get what you mean.

Agree with you with the Krylon Fusion though. Especially for the IDI Cover. Get a high temp paint with ceramic in it if you want it to be really good. Krylon Fusion is JUNK. I wouldn't use it on anything at all. Every single thing i've painted with Krylon Fusion turned out like CRAP. Everything else with just standard rattlecan turned out awesome.

I think they're probably just called... valve covers. You're right though. The IDI cover is most certainly NOT a valve cover and calling it such is just plain wrong.

Quit with the misinformation, CF!!!

if its metal go with powder coating little more expensive than painting but well worth it.this finish is smooth and very durable,it wont chip or peel.most people that do powder coating has just about every color there is ,if they are good they can even do multiple colors(such as flame, tribal, etc).i did mine in powdercoat look as good as as it did a year ago.any way good luck with what ever you decide."this is only my opinion"
