Im wanting to paint my air intake but im a bit curious if its good to paint on stainless. I wouldnt know much about it cuz im an amature. Has n e one does this? Paint over stainless? If so how did u go about it?Or is it not a good idea?

yes.. just prep it... prime it... and your good to go.

we (the company i work for) sometimes brush the SS and just powercoat it clear

whats a good way to prep it? some alcohol or some other cleaner?


then a few thin coats of primer and a few thin coats of paint?

1- remove all grease and oils
2- 400 grit to take off and shine that the surface may have.
3- remove all dust from sanding with a tack lint free cloth
4- light coats of primer (scratch filler is good) about 4
5- 400 grit wet sand primer not all the way down... just so smooth it over
6- spray colour as many coats as you want...dry time in between coats look at the can's directions

if you wanna clear coat over the paint..

1- 1000 grit wet sand

2- spray clear
