led underglow?
Tuesday, May 31, 2005 1:46 PM
i recently purchased eurolite led underglow for my 98 z24. when i mount the stick on the back, the wire will barley reach the front of my door. now a buddy of mine has the same car and has the one colour set and he has plently to spare. i contacted eurolite and they told me that since mine in the 7 different colour set with a remote control that mine has shorter wires. i really dont think that this is fair considering you pay more and get less. now what i am woundering is if anyone out there has any suggestions on how i can hook this up without drilling holes through my floor to run the wires. the box that they all hook into cannot get wet and it is recomended to install this in your engine compartment.....which is a little hard to do when all the wires will not reach. so does anyone know any little tricks to make this work without doing any driling through my floor (live in a province which is really hard on cars when it comes to rust) or splicing any wires? help!!

Dude, get some freakin wire and extend it. Your making this out to be hard when its a freakin simple fix. Get the same gauge wire and make it longer...

extending the wire would take a whole lot of time and effort for something that is supposed to be a simple procedure. there is like 8-10 mini wires to each tube. and even then whose to tell that the tubes will preform as well. anyways.....i got the stupid things hooked up after poping out all the drain plugs in the car and running the wires through the floor. im really not impressed with this kit and i dont recomend anyone get it. when mounting the front and back tube and running the rear through the trunk drain and the front through the firewall they will barley reach each other. then there is the prob of the side tubes. neither are long enough to run through the firewall or the trunk plug so the back seat plugs had to come out. which seems like way to much work to do for a "foolproof" set up. ahh well i guess this kinda stuff has to be done to make her pretty. just thaught that i would let yas know this in case anyone is going to get the 7 color changing and thinking its going to be easy! now if you get the one color set you will have no probs. according to eurolite the 7 color changing has shorter wires than the one color set. so basically you pay more for less. so i recomend that you just purchase the one color set if you dont want all these headaches......and just another note, when mounting the tubes make sure that you do not mount the tubes facing straight down or you will get 4 dotted line under the car where the tubes are....looks like complete crap!!

Hmm.. sucks you had so many problems. The Plasmaglow kit I have had more than enough wire, in fact I had to loop it a whole bunch of times and ziptie it in the enginebay... Cool that you got it working though, now post some pics!
