If you want your car to look like it was cheaply painted, go to Maaco because you'll get what you pay for. I suggest looking around at different shops, and really the best way to judge is to look at whatever they have sitting on the lot that has just been painted. I understand that you might be trying to save money or just flat out don't have alot to spend for paint, but I'm telling ya you will spend more in the long run. But it has been my experience that Maaco sucks, but they simply do not get paid enough per paint job to put out quality work.

Maaco = CRAP. Save your money and go to a pro business.

or...if you commute 95 miles/day and tend to get rock chips on your front end and side skirts, you may want to get a less expensive paint job and save some money if the car is going to get chiped up anyway.

but yes, maco does a pretty bad job. good luck.

I went to a tech school that had an auto body shop. ( www.cttech.org/grasso ) and the auto body teacher who is now one hell of a body repair guy used to work at maaco back in the day when he was first starting out with body repair/paint whatnot. And the first thing he made the kids do was swear that they would never go there for a paint job, he said on the cheap jobs that they offer that no lie the clear coat would litterally wash off in the rain. He said the prep work was horrible too, if you went in there for a paint job they would paint right over your existing paint instead of sanding and prepping. Thats just what he told us anyway. I have no personal experience there and never will.

its a low price and a @!#$ty paint job because i went to vantage career center for my junior year in school for auto body and my my auto body teacher told us its a low source of paint job which maaco is a conventional shop and if i was you I would go and safe your money and go to a High Volume Body Shop its going to be higher in price for the job but it would be worth it.

what are you planning to do with your car??? its a daily driver, you drive far to work everyday, if you dont plan on making it a great show car then id say do it

i got the 2nd best paint job they do for about 700 bucks, they took their time like i told them too and had my car about a month.....its been almost 3 years, no fading, chips, or peels so far, still looks damn good and everyone always says WHAT THAT WAS PAINTED BY MAACO?

i think it may depend on each individual shop, some do better work then others

but for 700 bucks, im damn happy with the way the car looks, and how the paint has held up

maaco paint jobs can be good. It depends on what you get tho. If you want a cheap paint job then they give you a cheap paint job. If you want a good paint job, then they charge you more. They are basically like any other paint shop only they offer a lower end paint job along with nice paint jobs that way they have a wider variety of business. This has hurt them, because most people dont realize that you get what you pay for and if you pay for the a cheap paint job then thats what you get. My brother had his camaro painted there. It needed a paint job and he wanted to sell it, so he took it to maaco. $450 total. The paint actually wasnt that bad. minimal orange peel and a small amount of overspray on the exhaust pipes(burnt off a few days later). At the same time that my brother payed/picked up his car, another guy came in and picked up his corvette. I was thinking why the hell would you have a vette painted at maaco. The guy was charged $7000 for the paint job, and it was one of the best looking ones i have seen. So yes maaco cant paint good, but only if you pay them too.

I'd recommend NOT going to Maaco personally. Save up for a nice paint job. If you're worried about chips... just either:

1. Get a clear bra for your car

2. use blue painter's tape for your front bumper and front of your hood to protect against chips while commuting...

I had a door painted at maaco cause it was smashed. I got a door off a teal cavalier and i have a green one so they matched the paint and painted right over the teal paint. After about a year now the paint is falling off and my door is turning teal again.

yeah like carbon cavi said they just paint over ur old paint. my freind in his eclipse took his there. his car was baby blue but then he went with some deep dark blue that still looked like junk. well in some spots u could see the baby blue. no lie hes taken his car back 5 times to repaint it and stays there to see them sand it down and do it again and it still bubbles or cracks like a week later

I guess it all depends on where your located then. The maaco here, actually does good work. When my brothers camaro was repainted, he sealed it for no extra cost, just because he said he was tired of people stereo typing maaco paint jobs. He said when people come in and want a cheap paint job, he would try and talk them into savin a little bit more for a good paint job and he would tell them that they get what they pay for.
