Sparco Gas Door ????'s
Monday, May 23, 2005 7:55 PM
My body shop is having a problem with the filler extention from the car to spaco door to the stock funnel. I searched and came up with nothing but I know I have read on here before about the same problem with a few others.

What have you guys done to get around this? Sorry if I sound stupid, I need away to get this solved. If anyone could help me out ASAP, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

i just got my sparco lid and filler extension and have the same questions as Wheel Whore (not hijacking your post, as i think my question below is very similar to yours).

in particular do you leave the part of the stock filler that gets pushed down when you insert a fuel pump or do you run a new filler line from gas tank to the sparco filler extension?

hey HotRodV6

you've got mail!

i dont think you can get the door to sit flush with the car where the filler is at i think you have to cut the filler and remount it somehow. sorry thats not very helpful.

I just put a sparco gas door on my car and the extension wont fit to have the door sit flush unless you go messing and changing the stock filler neck. I just didnt use it and it worked out fine i think.
Heres my car domain page i have pics on there that might help.

That looks pretty good, but do you have any pics of the inside or underneath showing how you hooked up the factory filler hose??

the filler neck is bolted in the factory location i did nothing to the filler neck. I removed the gas door and made a peice that the gas door itself would sit flush in then cut the whole thing down to size until it fit in the opening then i welded it in. i believe i used a 4 inch hole saw to cut out the whole but i am not sure

^ do you have a gas cap on the stock filler or nothing between the filler and sparco locking cap? if not are you throwing any codes or splashing gas out it when full?

i heard that other people just used a different hose instead of the filler piece from sparco since they couldnt get it to work. also your going to have problem getting the gas cap out too. i talked to meck about that when i was going to do my widebody and he said the opening is just a little small to pull the gas cap out so he had to cut a little slot on the inside so he can put his cap there.

i am gonna run it with no gas cap on the actual filler neck. It hasnt given me any codes yet but gas shouldnt splash up there the tube is over 2 feet long.

Ryan,

is there enough room between the filler and sparco gas lid to put a shaved gas filler cap like the one in thie picture below.

(i know the shaved gas fller cap will not be pulled out through the sparco hole)

You should be able to fit one in there. I am pretty sure there is a couple inches to work with to rig up something.

Ryan,

how did you get the sparco gas door to sit so flush? the location the gas door at is on a curve and the sparco gs ddor is flat.

i looked on your cardomain site at the pictures, do you have any sot on an angle showing the gas door?

i layered up a few pieces of sheet metal and plug welded them together. Then i cut it to fit in the gas door spot and i made it so it curved and kinda went into a flat spot for the gas door so it would look decent. then weld it in and throw filler on it till you get it how you would like
